hard to believe that 10 days ago Korea only had 50 cases, and Italy’s first domestic case was Feb 19/20 (the previous cases were Jan 30th Chinese tourists off the cruise ship Smeralda)
The man, identified only as Mattia, was admitted to the emergency room in Codogno, Lombardy, early on February 19 with respiratory problems, reported the Corriere della Serra and CNN.
Mattia was tested at around 4 p.m. on February 20 36 hours after being admitted and at 9 p.m. the infection was diagnosed, according to Corriere della Sera. The delay in testing was because he wasn’t recently returned from China, the newspaper said.

Yes - and it will (and already has) ramped up quickly from the few confirmed cases yesterday in Washington state. No reason to believe that we won’t see similar numbers in the days and weeks to come.
That would be a great idea for those small item carry-baskets - they never go outside for a dose of UV.
POTUS knows how to delegate. Besides, the evolving story in WA state should be handled by local officials first, and they have a news conference scheduled for tomorrow. That's how our republic works.
Faster testing, leading to faster treatment.
I’ve read for the flu virus it is 170 degrees minimum, some viruses need a higher temperature. But not sure for how long, an hour seems too long. Found the following:
“While the exact value of the economic impact of the hepatitis A virus in. Kentucky is ... Heating to 180 degrees for one minute will kill any potential virus on contaminated food.”
I also looked up the burning temperature of paper - 400 degrees F. So putting your cash in the oven at 200 degrees for five minutes I would think would do the trick.
Your 1/4 cup bleach to a gallon of water is good. Not sure what it would do to money though!
Weeks ago I looked up the temperature of a clothes dryer. I think it was around 140 degrees - but I recall it was much less than 170.
I forgot to add you to this post seeing as things are starting to hit close to home now.
I get your point.
But the temp of the air leaving the exchanger is sometimes less than even 150F.
And it’s total time in the ducts is unlikely to exceed 3 secs, after which it mixes with 68F room air.
Fine.
Yeah, I do wish I could find a study on brief high temp exposure. Maybe tomorrow...
Obvious, IMO, that some exposure to high temps hurts the virus more than no exposure at all. Like in China.
You are exactly correct.
In each state the DPH is in charge. The Feds, the CDC, and FEMA have a role. But we are not at the stage of concertina wire across the streets.
Thanks. Yes, they are hitting close to home. But OTOH I am 150 miles from the nearest treatment center — Spokane Sacred Heart.
Tell your husband that I agree with him. The look how good I/we are doing crap has no place in this.
Stick to the what is happening, what we’re doing, the possible outcomes.
Oh - I thought you were in the Seattle area. I looked on google earth - I’m 2.4 miles as the flu flies from the nursing home (similar to Evergreen Hospital).
Yeah that would work for most things, but a chunk of something from a lung might have a three dimensional quality that may not get total exposure to the antiviral surface.
I'd prefer it if he used some of his aides as attack dogs to do this defensive work for him, but...let Reagan be Reagan, let Trump be Trump.
Salazar says test kits still two weeks out. I know they are allowing states to do their own testing though.
And CDC has changed the test protocol for their original test to omit a contaminating step.
It helps, I suppose, if your water utility breaks down, and the replacement part needed is . . . wait for it . . . MADE IN CHINA!
When a Chicom Tyrant says ‘Turn Those Machines Back On’ they actually do get turned back on. Lol.
