According to early releases from CDC, the original reagent test panels were only compatible with 1 specific piece of equipment, the Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast DX Real-Time PCR Instrument. If your lab didn’t have the equipment AND was “certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) to perform high complexity tests”, then no test for you.

This really minimized getting a valid test for many patients.

the thing about China is that it supplies us with far TOO MANY items....and the virus is hitting them the hardest....their production will diminish and then we'll have empty shelves.........

the supply chain will stop and then we will have panic....and THAT my friends, is why you prepare....

you can't really stop the flu or virus....you coexist...

Expensive colleges/universities and private schools could be facing the end of times as they know it.

Who will dare to send a child to a dirty and crowded public school after this event?

That would also be a reason to “lag” on getting test kits out. Verification via the kits would alter peoples behavior before the inoculative strain had time to propagate, allowing for more of the actual bug to circulate... Food for thought...
