I think it's a commonly accepted figure everywhere it's been. It was brought up in two separate press conferences by doctors in Oregon and Washington. That's why it's going to spread. 80% are mild and won't stay home. They'll spread it to others and 20% will end up getting really really sick.
That sounds like the rallies that President Trump has may be affected.
That's what the doctor said. Was assuming it would have a cycle like the flu and that immunity would build up after a while. That's an assumption I've heard before.

I don't know if they would ever mandate something like that. I bet individual places will make that decision.
I'd really be curious to see what the number is in Japan and South Korea, as their medical systems (especially Japan) used the US a model in standing up their healthcare systems (especially Japan as their system was wrecked after WWII).

I think even if a vaccine is developed it still has to go through human testing, fda approval all that stuff. Maybe Trump would speed things up but if the vaccine causes something worse cause we don't test adequately who wants that on their head? And we don't have vaccines for every flu and they're not always effective. I'm not even sure if we have any vaccines for corona viruses to tell you the truth.

I think the key is to minimize contact with others to the extent possible. Several of our staff worked flex shifts before this happened. Most of where they work has no people around. If people would not touch their nose, eyes, mouth, that also helps reduce risk.
But we were talking about this at work and several folks believe that we would shut down for a few weeks if even one person testing COVID-19 +. The main reason? Potential liability of remaining open and then someone getting sick. It actually would not be bad working there if the building is closed - there would be nobody around!

Companies tend to be risk averse when it comes to employee health, etc. Years ago, we would have employees on disability or serious illness come back to work with weight restrictions (how much they could lift), other task restrictions, etc. Those sorts of things are very rare now. If you're not 100% - it's very unusual to be allowed back to work. I've seen it one time in 4-5 years. What happens if you get COVID-19 and they trace it back to work? Would that be subject to workman's comp? Don't know. Maybe?
A state organization is saying they need more Federal funds to do their job?
