I’m going to get this off my chest but if you tell anybody I said it I shall deny it.
Perhaps it’s because I come from a family filled with hairdressers that I have some knowledge. Although we’re Caucasian, for sure I’ve been around plenty of hairdressers with expertise in doing black hair.
First, I think a hairstyle filled with pretty and neat braids is very lovely. I can’t imagine not hiring someone if they have a head with artful and well-worked braids.
BUT FOLKS THIS IS EXPENSIVE!!!!!
To do a head full of a Black person’s hair takes almost two hours (time varies of course, but take a look at how complicated some of those hairstyles are).
Cost is between $150-$200.
Again, nothing wrong with this.
But how many of these people are receiving some kind of public welfare? Food stamps? Welfare?
I don’t much know and hey, if it’s their money than spend it however.
Also note, most black women have beautifully manicured fingernails. That’s another fifty bucks every two weeks or thereabout.
I have mine own fingernails professionally manicured every two and a half weeks so I do quite understand feminine vanity.
But I am very suspicious about those complicated hairstyles along with fingernails and how the public dole might be helping keep up the vanity.
I’m curious and you should know the answer to my question. If a person’s hair is tightly braided how does one wash it and how often?
I knew a woman at work whose fingernails were painted so when she put her fingers tight together they showed a cameo of a man doggy-stylinga woman. The rest of her was not very classy either. She didn’t last very long.
