Actually, Singapore has been doing better than a lot of the colder countries, so we don’t know yet what warm weather will do. Qom, Iran where it seems to be centered is not particularly warm right now. Egypt - does it have many cases?
Not saying it is going to die off with warm weather, but we can still hope.
Singapore has a kick ass CDC/health authority.
They’re doing something called ‘sentinel testing’. That’s randomly testing people who are showing no symptoms.
Like: ‘hello mrs ling, I see you’re here for your yearly checkup. We would like to do a test for that coronavirus that’s going around. We don’t think you have it but we want to get an idea of where it is and where it isn’t. ....thank you mrs. ling, you are coronavirus free and your checkup looks fine! see you next year!’.
In all seriousness, Singapore has its act together. Their experience with SARs literally had them write the textbook on how to respond.
Singapore has the best contact tracking system in the world. They take no prisoners and their culture is intelligent and compliant.
It would be impossible to do that kind of contact tracking and isolation in the US.
Many virologists have said that Singapore is the gold standard and exemplar. If it breaks out there, its really bad news.
