I disagree with the President on this is just like a flu. To early to compare to a flu. I do think they need to expand the testing.
I do agree the current risk today is low, but that could change next week, next month or this fall. We need more testing to keep watch.
I disagree on the reason the market drop. It is not about who is running for President under the Democratic party. The market drop was because of the factory shutdowns in China. Has nothing to do with the Democratic party or politics. I do not think anybody listens to the Democratic party when it comes to investing.
Generally, I think the President is trying to calm everybody by having the meeting and appointing Vice President Pence.
I do think China is lying about their numbers. I do not think we are out of the woods, but thankful we have Vice President directing things.
I have to say, my favorite statement of the day for the President was about Ebola. Its a totally different thing. You basically disintegrated.
But his comparisons to the flu were way off. Thats what the CDC folks put in his ear, IMO
Ive been on these from the start, and was horrified by what my relatives (in laws) endured in China. My mom is mid 70s with COPD, so shed be out of here quickly if she catches this. So yeah, watching the spread of this isnt comfortable.
I have done minor prepping - bought ammo, extra food, medicines, etc.
At the end of the day, this virus has extreme issues for 20% of those who get infected by it, otherwise more like a flu or cold. That other 20% will need ICU care, which could overwhelm our resources if this were China.
We arent China. Or South Korea, or Italy. Sure as hell aint Iran here.
1. We wash our hands , we shower, hygiene matters here for most of us.
2. Our air quality is great.
3. Our population density is small except for major cities.
4. We are still a very self-reliant people here, that dont wait for the gubmint to take care of us.
5. My Chinese wife is amazed at how we know what over the counter medicines we need to recover from so many things that they would go to a hospital to fix. Thats how we are.
We are going to see the stores run out of many items soon. Not from panic buying, but from lack of Chinese supply.
Finally. Decoupling. Cold turkey, but thats about the only way it can happen. Dont fear, just stay careful and safe.
