Trump did exactly what I thought he’d do.

He can’t come out and say ‘That Xi, what a liar!’.

Nor can he cut off the CDC’s feet in public.

Telling people it’s like the flu is better than telling them it’s a head cold. Most people ‘respect’ the flu. They know people with the flu have their asses kicked by it.

We can’t cut off travel from those countries right now, they’re allies. We have LOTS of military dependents there. LOTS.

I think there’s lots more going on behind the scenes with this. Lots. I think we may be closer to war than I might have thought before.

While he did good keeping the rats in line and played a cheerleader for the market, I don’t agree with anything he said. Avoiding the test kit question brought to mind the governor dancing the side step in Best Little Whore House.

“We started stocking up 2 weeks ago. We went back this past weekend and shelves where I had taken 2 items and left 3 were full again.”

I started a full 5 weeks ago, and I’m still buying stuff daily. Talk about lucky - to have this long to prep! Anyway, 90% of what I bought, I’ll almost certainly use...so it’s just pushing things forward a bit - so I don’t have to deal with the ‘sorry, no parts (or replacements) available’ crap.

Good post....I agree with you.

Lou Dobbs just had Rosemary Gibson on, author of China Rx, talking about how 90% of our drugs are made in China.

She said it would take MONTHS to get drug manufacturing, up and running, here...but, due to the low profitability, it will be tough to get companies to even want to make these drugs, here.

The shutdown there will definitely hit us...as well as the mask problem.

We’re going to get valves for the potties tomorrow. The ones in the potties and the ones on the wall connecting the potties to the water supply. If one of those goes out...it would be ugly...

I agree. I thought he said what a President is expected to say. We have it under control, we have good people working on it, etc.

He could have thrown the CDC u see the bus with the test issue, but he took the high road.

I think the American people will respond positively to this, and will feel less panicky but it was clear that folks should prepare.

But as a person that tracks this, it is way worse than they let on.

Reading between the lines at tonight's presser it's pretty clear that they've accepted that there will be new cases here. I think it's likely that they will respond very aggressively to new cases and are ready to do whatever it takes to stop the spread.

The flu comparison was pained but it's better than saying 20% of the people who get will end up in the hospital. That would cause panic. I'm going to just let people who think it's no big deal to believe that. I'm ready for whatever happens so I'll sleep easy no matter what happens.

IOW, there’s at least one carrier who’s out there infecting people.

I’ve been on these from the start, and was horrified by what my relatives (in laws) endured in China. My mom is mid 70s with COPD, so she’d be out of here quickly if she catches this. So yeah, watching the spread of this isn’t comfortable.

I have done minor prepping - bought ammo, extra food, medicines, etc.

At the end of the day, this virus has extreme issues for 20% of those who get infected by it, otherwise more like a flu or cold. That other 20% will need ICU care, which could overwhelm our resources if this were China.

We aren’t China. Or South Korea, or Italy. Sure as hell ain’t Iran here.

1. We wash our hands , we shower, hygiene matters here for most of us.

2. Our air quality is great.

3. Our population density is small except for major cities.

4. We are still a very self-reliant people here, that don’t wait for the gubmint to take care of us.

5. My Chinese wife is amazed at how we know what over the counter medicines we need to recover from so many things that they would go to a hospital to fix. That’s how we are.

We are going to see the stores run out of many items soon. Not from panic buying, but from lack of Chinese supply.

Finally. Decoupling. Cold turkey, but that’s about the only way it can happen. Don’t fear, just stay careful and safe.

Same here: rubber gloves - painting projects, yard work etc., face shield - pressure washing, grinding, cutting, masks - yard work, cleaning, sanding painting, food- eat it. Toilet paper - use it. :-)

I was worry about that too. Authoritarian governments don’t fail nicely

Cold one with China. Perhaps Iran too.

They both of them have hundreds of disease weapons on the hoof now to distribute to all our largest cities.

To cough on all the babyfood jars, the lettuce and the ice cream.

I think that’s behind the nice Xi talk. We ‘know’ Xi.

A young military hothead might replace him.

Yes, but I’ve expected that a while. There is H2H spread in every country in the northern hemisphere by now.

One thing that’s bugging me....

Are we not testing, because we’re not wanting to report numbers??

We keep hearing (just heard it, again, from a Dr on Tucker) that we’re “monitoring”, as in the 83 people in Nassau County, NY....cosing millions to monitor.

Reminds me of that bank robbery commercial where the people on the floor ask the security guy if he’s going to do something...and, he tells him he’s only there to MONITOR.
