The average stay in an ICU bed with this virus (we need to stop calling it a flu) appears to be between 14-20 days.

No one reading this thread has that many ICU beds near them in ANY normalFebruary/March.

The heads in the sand folks like to think themselves sensible and “wise.” They are thinking of their city/town, they literally do not care about what happens to people in the world. The scream USA, talk about how we are superior.

The virus doesn’t think these people are superior. The virus don’t care.

“The average stay in an ICU bed with this virus (we need to stop calling it a flu) appears to be between 14-20 days.”

My son had a recent hospital stay and there were no regular beds available. The only bed was the last one in the ICU. They wanted to ship him across the state to a different hospital but fortunately that didn’t happen. This wouldn’t just crowd the ICUs, it would also crowd the regular beds. Our hospitals are at capacity much of the time already, especially during flu season.

I call it the “Wuhanic Plague”. No confusion about what that is.

“The heads in the sand folks” are being stupid. I’d happily be wrong about all this, but too many of the things I and others have predicted have come true. I’ll go back to what I’ve been saying -

Don’t panic. Prepare and be vigilant.

But it is time to elevate your preparations.

My wife had 2 seizures this morning. She's currently in an ICU bed. I suppose we're lucky the corona virus isn't filling our ICU yet. It's now 14 hours after the first one hit at 7 AM. She's sitting up, alert, responsive, watching TV in her ICU bed. No diagnosis in spite of lab workups for blood glucose, ketones, cardiac enzymes, head CT scan, chest CT scan, head MRI. An echo cardiogram is on tap for tomorrow. The intent to stay far away from ER/ICU facilities was subverted by the seizures. It was a DKA on August 26th that caused the first seizure. It's definitely not DKA this time.
