I find it astonishing how proud every German I’ve ever met is about how “efficient” they are with everything. It’s to the point of pathological. Yet think nothing of becoming dependent on Putin for natural gas.

It’s a great example of how powerful the government + media can shape the general opinions of an entire population...and their ‘green solutions’ don’t even result in the claimed benefits, they have no idea either.

My opinion of German "efficiency" has dropped like a stone after reading blogs from The Scnitzel Republic. Everything from toilets and A/C not working on the trains to idiotic "diesel free" zones in cities. They've come a long way, baby.

the idea of efficiency is ingrained into German mentality since the 1700s - thanks to Lutheranism and Calvinism. It’s not so apparent in southern, Catholic Germany, but in the north that’s what they define themselves by.

I don’t think it’s particularly true in my own opinion. Frankfurt airport and Berlin airport are horribly inefficient to get around.
