I was watching the Daily Wire yesterday and some excellent observations were provided on the show.
Some points given, among many, were that everyone took their turn striking the pinata, Bloomberg, but when it came to Bernie's turn, the pinata took the stick out of Bernie's hand and began to beat Bernie with it along the lines of BLM and months down the road the nude protester female wresting the microphone from frail Bernie.
What I thought about later is that Bloomberg took it to Bernie by pointing out (whether people thought about it then) the utter oxymoron in the minds of the average American of a multi-millionaire socialist, and it could potentially revive Bernie's attempt to hide his cessation of bashing both millionaires and billionaires given his status as a millionaire. Add to it Bloomberg making it tangible by describing Bernie owning three homes and it's no wonder that Bernie had to lie through describing a $600,000 property as a mere "campground."
All of this is what triggered Bernie to an enormous extent like I have seen few candidates on stage from either side in a long time - causing Bernie to nearly pop his top - with the proverbial smoke coming out from under his collar, complete with red-faced grabbing the side of the podium.
If Republicans don't take snapshots of Bernie's face they're missing it...
Bloomberg likely had several shots prepared and in mind for use against Sanders as his main target and got to use a couple of them. Bloomberg though was not prepared for a beat down by a stageful of opponents resentful of his wealth and disruptive late entry into the race.
I didnt see it that way although Bernie did get flustered. Bloomberg looked bored and mad he had to lower himself lol.
I live part time in Broward county and so far the attitude here is for Biden.
He did not call it a camp ground
he called it a camp.
A camp is a second home usually by a body of water, its usage is Northern New England
Bloomberg tore Bernie. His 3 house line was one for the ages and he got Bernie to admit congress took bribes for the tax code. But he misses the killl shot on that one by not following up with if government is so easily bribed, then why the hell would anyone want to give it MORE power and not less? Your entire ideology is based on government wielding more power! But thats a limited government argument
“Bernie may have been inches away from needing a cardiac care unit.”
If only ...
His glowering red face, bulging eyes, flailing arms, and spewing spittle is the stuff Trump campaign posters can be made of. He’s a disgusting excuse for a human being.
Not really. Most people aren’t going to check out Bernie’s “camp”, and a US Senator having homes in DC as well as his home state is going to sound reasonable.
Bernie was prepared and deflected that quite well, I thought. Too bad he didn’t go after Bern’s ideology instead. Bloomberg slithered out by claiming his NYC “residence”, Bernie forcing him to acknowledge all Bloomie’s other homes and airplanes, etc. But that’s a loser position too.
They’re all wealthy older white guys with lots of houses, like Trump—though admittedly on three different tiers of magnitude. Not fertile ground for political points against each other.
For me, one is where they were all besmirching the rich as tho THEY are the champions of the middle class people and happy Peter says they are being hypocritical since HE'S the only middle class person up there...The rest of them are all millionaires...You could have heard a feather drop...
Another is where Bernie got on Bloomberg about his taxes and Bloomberg hits back and reminds Bernie that it's Bernie's crowd that writes the tax laws...Bernie tries to hit back by saying it's the rich like Bloomberg who influence the tax writers/voters with big bucks to legislate their way...Bernie just hit himself over the head with a 2x4 on that one...
And of course the big one...Bloomberg calling Bernie a communist and letting Bernie know that this Country wasn't built on communism/socialism and we will never be a communist Nation...
Bloomberg was the only one with the balls on that stage to call Bernie a commie. Everyone else was too scared of making their left wing nutjob base mad.
Being assaulted by a Wall Street billionaire just gives Bernie added street cred with his supporters.
This is the best thread EVAH ! CHEERS to all who contributed.
My own view is that Bloomberg calling Bernie’s position “Communism” was a flop. It may have played to Republicans but the audience did not like it and I think Dems in general probably thought it was over the top. If he had said “socialism” instead, I think it would have been a lot more effective, so I call that a flop.
Bloomberg did land a blow with the 3-house millionaire zinger but I don’t think it did much damage.
But I though the biggest takeaway was that Bloomberg demonstrated that he has zero personality or charisma. I mean none at all.
Bernie on the other hand, even though he is talking complete garbage, is oddly mesmerizing.
Remember, we are talking Leftists here - it is all about feelings. Logical analysis of what happened in the debate is irrelevant in the Democrat mindset. They are feelers, not thinkers. Bernie makes them feel good. Bloombeg makes everyone feel a bit ill.
. . . or would do, if he himself didnt have a book to his credit.
Bernie is spineless. He stands down too easily.
If you write a best selling book, aren’t you supposed to write a check to the government for anything you made? You know, for the common good.
It was pointed out on “The Five”, that when the squaw brought up the NDA, that bookie should have flipped it on her and said, “let’s talk about DNA instead”.
It’s not like Bernie’s followers care about stuff like this. So no, I don’t agree.
“From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs” — Karl Marx. Free access to goods, capital and services. Sanders has a private bank account and 3 houses—more than one person “needs”.
