THINK GASOLINE IS SO EXPENSIVE
This is priceless!
All these examples do NOT imply that gasoline is cheap;
it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are.
You will be really shocked by the last one (at least, I was)!!!
Think a gallon of gas is expensive?
This makes one think, and also puts things into perspective.
Diet Snapple, 16 oz. , $1.29 ... $10.32 per gallon!
Starbuck's Reg. Coffee 16 oz., $2.10... $16.80 per gallon!
Lipton Ice Tea, 16 oz. , $1.19 ... $9.52 per gallon!
Gatorade, 20 oz. , $1.59 .... $10.17 per gallon!
Ocean Spray, 16 oz. , $1.25 .. $10.00 per gallon!
Brake Fluid, 12 oz. , $3.15 .... $33.60 per gallon!
Vick's NyQuil, 6 oz. , $8.35 ... $178.13 per gallon!
Pepto Bismol, 4 oz., $3.85 . $123.20 per gallon!
Whiteout, 7 oz. , $1.39 ........ $25.42 per gallon!
Scope, 1.5 oz. , $0.99 ....$84.48 per gallon!
And this is the REAL KICKER.
Evian water, 9 oz. , $1.49 ..$21.19 per gallon!
$21.19 for a gallon of WATER!!
and the buyers dont even know the source!!
(Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)
Ever wonder why computer printers are so cheap?
So they can hook you for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of the ink;
you won't believe it but it's true: $5,200 a gal.
$5,200 A GALLON!!!
So, the next time you're at the pump,
be glad your car doesnt run on water, Scope, Whiteout,
Pepto Bismol, NyQuil or, God forbid, Printer Ink!!!!!

The way the empty bottles are just discarded on the ground, there should be a deposit on them like beer cans and bottles. At least that would give the homeless a source of income.....
The water bottles are convenient when driving, hiking, biking, etc. You could refill them from the faucet or fridge but we are lazy:)
Our public water leaves brown stains in the tub/shower, so I don’t drink it!!!
Most of the time my well water is really good but occasionally after heavy rains over a long period it gets really bad. Then I need bottled water. A filtration system is multiple kilo bucks so I figure bottled water is the way to go.
Great post!
Good stuff!
I enjoy perspective!
(And irony - I love irony)
I could never understand why people would purchase water in plastic bottles when they have fresh water running from their faucets at home.......
...
Generic spring water in a gallon jug tastes so much better and it’s 96 cents.
I’ll add one:
In 1979, per capita income was $7,000, gasoline was $1.20 a gallon, and a typical car would get 15 MPG (maybe). Drive 15,000 miles and you needed 1000 gallons, which cost $1200. So 17% of ones income was needed for gasoline...in that scenario.
Now fast forward to 2016 and per capita income is $33,000. Gasoline costs $2.50 per gallon and a typical car gets 25 MPG. So driving 15,000 miles costs $1500. But with our much higher income, gasoline is now only 4.5% of income.
HUGE DIFFERENCE...so stop bitching about gasoline prices, please.
(general comment, not you, Poodle)
That’s why gas stations have snack shops. That’s where the real money is.
“I could never understand why people would purchase water in plastic bottles when they have fresh water running from their faucets at home.......”
I like to keep a case around in case of an emergency. For example there might be a water line failure in the main that feeds your residence. Pumps that deliver water to your home could fail. Etc.
Adjusted for inflation thats $2.65 per gallon in todays dollars
Try calculating the price per pound of potatoes in a bag of potatoe chips.
I grew up in northern Michigan and we had our own well but it was iron water. I never drank it either........Experts say we should drink "X" amount of water per day but the only water I ever drank was from the school drinking fountain. Water is over rated...LOL!
How dare you!
I believe both California and Oregon offer refunds on plastic bottles.
How is that working out for them?
I agree though, if you have tap water that is drinkable, why not fill up a reusable container. We do not buy bottled water except for "prepping" purposes in bulk. NEVER EVER at a Stop and Rob
A single shot of Remy Martin Louis XIII Cognac, retail is at least $200 which makes it $25,600 a gallon.
I’m trying to calculate how much my eye drops cost!!!!!
My point: Lipton Iced Tea - $9.52/gallon, when in a 16 oz. bottle. But not when you buy an actual gallon. Then its only $2.99/gallon.
Same goes for most of the other items on the list...
$21.19 for a gallon of WATER!!"
Currently, our local Food Lion has Deer Park 24 Pack, 1/2 Liter bottles on sale at 3/$10. Math sucks but I think that comes out to about $1/gallon? Where does this fool shop, Beverly Hills?
