Obama Inserted Himself Into Plenty of Criminal Investigations

Democrats are still wailing about President Trump expressing an opinion about the sentencing of a high-profile criminal investigation into one of his longtime associates, Roger Stone. Democrats are now lecturing the country about the importance of law enforcement remaining independent from the White House and the president. As usual, you don't have to look very far to find examples of Democrats being complete and utter hypocrites on the subject.

What part of double standard do you not get? Even the gopE is supportive of it as long as it’s used against Trump. Remember the irs and the Tea Party? mcconnel and almost all the gop senators are every bit as corrupt as bidden.

Here's a classic example of a President inserting himself into a criminal investigation.
In the early 1940’s, the IRS wanted to indict Congressman Lyndon Johnson for criminal income tax evasion. As LBJ was one of the few Deep South Democrats who were fervent New Dealers, FDR intervened and ordered the IRS to drop the indictment and end the investigation.
If that is not presidential interference, I don't know what is.

One of the VERY FIRST things he did was insert himself into a local police matter (in a racially incendiary manner).

Remember the “Beer Summit”?

The difference is, this and Trayvon were local and state crimes and the President has no control of local law enforcement.

in the USA, the DOJ must be responsible to someone ... POTUS, who is elected, and in return is responsble to the voters.

The demonkraps know this, for when they are in charge, not one of them ever demands the DOJ be independent of their party POTUS. The only time the DOJ or any agency is ever independent of the POTUS is when they get commit crimes on their party’s POTUS, then all of a sudden, 11th hour emails are written about how POTUS told everyone present to do everything by the book.

As President he could easily cause overwhelming problems for locals by ordering in DoJ, so it’s still interference.

In addition, the DOJ could have brought federal civil rights charges against Zimmerman, and that’s DIRECT interference.

Sure, but they didn't.

The DOJ actually did act here.

they were investigating. This example is a classic case of interfering with a department of justice probe.

“T The U.S. Department of Justice on Monday afternoon appealed to civil rights groups and community leaders, nationally and in Sanford, for help investigating whether a federal criminal case might be brought against George Zimmerman for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, one advocate said.

The DOJ has also set up a public email address to take in tips on its civil rights investigation.”

If the GOPe didn’t have double standards they’d have no standards at all. When was the last time McConnell rushed to a TV interview to support POTUS against the coup? Never. I knew as soon as Barr gave that interview that the GOP Senate would use it as a deflection to undermine POTUS. Sure enough McConnell appears on Fox a couple hours later and tries to mute POTUS.

It’s so ridiculous to henpeck POTUS on his tweets while the coup fire rage out of control at Main Justice. IF his own party supported him there would be little need for using twitter.

The fact that the President can order the DoJ to interfere in a local matter means that any negative comment by the President de facto comes with the threat of federal intervention - a threat which is far more real and serious when posed to local and state governments than it appears to be when dealing with the seemingly-immune-from-oversight DoJ itself.
