Cambodia was happy to shuttle them off. Can’t blame them.

The lady has it bad, too.

But too little, too late. How many have made it here now...or are in the air flying here now? And remember the pictures/videos from that ship - it was business as usual, no masks, no isolation, nothing.

Whether by design or accident, you know they will not let a crisis go to waste.

Took my kid to a doctor last week. Little Bear had strep, (could see it) so I grabbed a mask from the truck before we walked it.

The Doctors and Nurses dang near flipped out. The PA said they have been put on notice to make sure that ANY case of respiratory distress and flu like symptoms is treated like CoVid 2019.

With the massive amount of ChiComs in the area, and filling up local hotels, it is only a matter of time till it pops up here in Eastern Iowa, West ILL.

I started it late through my phone. I’m not sure I am getting to it tonight, as the grand baby is coming over. 3 months old and more important than any virus. :-)

You just use an alloys to harder it. Bronze and brass has solved that problem for you thousands of years ago and are already commonly used in door hardware with excellent results, while maintaining it copper like effectiveness against microbes.

"The surfaces of copper and its alloys, such as brass and bronze, are antimicrobial. They have an inherent ability to kill a wide range of harmful microbes relatively rapidly – often within two hours or less – and with a high degree of efficiency." - wiki

According to some people, solar panels are also becoming scarce already. If you were planning to buy one this year, might want to get it sooner rather than later.

I would bet that large batteries for off-grid setups will also be hard to find.

Pure copper is a soft metal and likely would not hold up well in a hospital setting<

"But those measures require actions by human beings — which is not the case with copper.

“It’s always working, it requires no human intervention, no supervision, and it’s acting continuously,” said Michael Schmidt, a microbiology professor at the Medical University of South Carolina and one of the researchers who conducted the first and largest study of copper surfaces in hospitals.

“If you looked at my cabinet pulls, they look like **stainless steel, but we still get copper’s killing properties,” he said. “We’re still continuing to clean everything we can. But this is our little helper behind the scenes."

**(I believe it is a nickel-copper alloy that would have similar appearance as stainless steel.)

"A typical U.S. hospital room contains about $100,000 of goods and equipment, experts say. The average cost to outfit a hospital room with antimicrobial copper items is about $5,000, Linden said. But one infection adds $43,000 in patient costs, according to federal data."

Interesting....the (now two) articles I’ve read, about Infected Japanese man, have BOTH mentioned the hotel where the guy stayed - in Oahu, ONLY. No mention of hotel where they stayed, while in Maui.

Maui local health official says...people in Maui have nothing to be concerned about....as the virus is not contagious while the person is asymptomatic...

Wait.....WHAT???

CDC press release: From: "Media@cdc.gov (CDC)" To: MMWR-MEDIA@LISTSERV.CDC.GOV Subject: CDC Media Statement: Diamond Princess Repatriation Date: Feb 15, 2020 11:21 AM Media Statement For Immediate Release Saturday, February 15, 2020 Contact: CDC Media Relations (404) 639-3286 Diamond Princess Repatriation The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is supporting the Department of State-led mission to repatriate U.S. citizens who want to return to the United States from Japan, currently aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship. HHS is committed to protecting the health and safety of all Americans. To fulfill our responsibilities to U.S. citizens, as well as to reduce the burden on the Japanese healthcare system, the U.S. government recommends that U.S. citizens disembark and return to the United States for further monitoring. These measures are consistent with the careful policies we have instituted to limit the potential spread of the disease. There are approximately 400 U.S. citizens onboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship. Due to the dynamic nature of the outbreak, the U.S. government recommends that U.S. citizens disembark and return to the United States. Americans returned by flights chartered by the State Department will be subject to a 14-day, federal quarantine and be housed at two existing federal quarantine sites for repatriated travelers: · Travis Air Force Base in California · Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas Those passengers returning from Japan will be housed separately from individuals already in quarantine from previous Wuhan repatriation flights. All travelers from Japan will be screened before boarding the State Department-chartered aircraft to prevent symptomatic travelers from departing Japan. These planes will be met by a team of U.S. Government personnel deployed there to assess the health of the passengers. The passengers will be screened before leaving the ship and monitored and evaluated by medical and public health personnel every step of the way, including before takeoff, during the flight, and after arrival. U.S. Government staff will conduct risk assessments to ensure the health of each traveler, including temperature checks and observation for respiratory symptoms. Travelers will be monitored during the flight to Travis Air Force Base where all travelers will be screened again. Any passengers taken onward to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland will be monitored during that flight as well and screened upon arrival in Texas.
