Happy Valentines Day.
There are currently 67,100 confirmed cases worldwide, including 1,526 fatalities.
I am growing tired of the race angle. That will mutate away before it gets here. And why would they target their own people?
“Those air-conditioned high rises everybody lives in probably mitigates any effect heat and humidity will have on the virus. Cant be a whole lot different than a cruise ship, imo.”
Yea, I keep thinking that Singapore is all-summer, which it is, but then people don’t live outdoors there, they live in air conditioning, and like you say, sealed buildings which almost certainly recycle air, which is probably the WORST environment possible for trying to stay clear of the virus.
Good question.
A man filed a lawsuit against Disney a number of years ago.
It turns out his “It’s a Small World” boat broke down and he was stuck inside the “attraction” for a period of time and claimed trauma from that song.
“I am growing tired of the race angle. That will mutate away before it gets here. And why would they target their own people?”
Race does sometimes affect people differently regarding health issues (such as the obvious one of Sickle Cell)...so it is fair to consider it. And SARS seemed to affect Asians far worse than non-Asians.
But, at this point, even if Westerners were to stay healthy, they are in for one hell of a ride, with China and probably the rest of Asia being brought to its knees. We are about to find out the DOWNSIDE of our outsourcing, and it might as well be now.

Actually an informative article!
“GS-441524 is very similar to the experimental human drug, Remdesivir and patents for both are held by manufacturer Gilead”
good point. And at least on a cruise ship, with a slightly higher social level of passengers, you stand less risk of elevator spitters. (not that ES’s will remain exclusive to China - crazies are universal)
67,102 confirmed cases worldwide, including 1,526 fatalities.
Hubei province
(includes Wuhan) 54,406 cases ... 1,457 Deaths
609 cases outsaide China ...3 deaths (1 Philippines,1 Hong Kong, 1 Japan)
I think there is a recent article here where a bunch of people came down with legionnaires disease in one of those type buildings. Same method of transmission, air ducts.
Crawling on the ground, no gloves and ignoring fomites. This will not be contained.
holy moley - you and I are thinking alike today. I was looking at a dog CV vaccine article.
There is a vaccine for this type of animal CV but only available to show animals. Has anyone looked at whether this particular CV has similarities to Sars-2 (a small percentage of current human cases of Sars-2 had intestinal/stomach complaints). Note that pets can shed this version of CV for 6 months in feces. And their stools may be green or orange.
Over the last 70 years, scientists have found that coronaviruses can infect mice, rats, dogs, cats, turkeys, horses, pigs, and cattle./..The viral strands can remain in the body and shed into the feces for up to six months

That’s true with legionnaires disease. Of course one big difference, as I understand it, is that legionnaires disease is not transmissible between humans - so once you know the source, you can at least get people away from it, while you sanitize.
Don’t forget extra car fob batteries.
We just had one go out, and bought a couple of extras,
True.
Yes, I understand that. But based on cases in Germany, Britain, and the cruise ship we know this is an equal opportunity virus. I think we can dismiss the bio-weapon against Chinese out of hand.
And such a weapon would not point to the Chinese, it would point to usand I am pretty sure the folks here want no part of that.
sorry, wrong link, Here’s the right one:

After getting confused by the various names for this virus, I found the following articles on the naming:
** Dont forget extra car fob batteries.
We just had one go out, and bought a couple of extras, ***
Not sure what you drive, but on my Nissan if you touch the end of the fob to the start button, even with no battery in the fob, it will start.
But you can’t lock the doors :((
so they are quibbling over the name! SARS is too scary. Can’t name it for location (racist), animal (racist) or half a dozen other ridiculous justifications all ending in (racist). And now SARS-2 is (racist) because it (scary) associates with Asia. (racist)
How about Roadrunner-1 - wait, that’s an animal and it’s xenophobic to desert dwellers (and therefore, racist)
Just do numbers then. Shall we rename Ebola and West Nile while were at it? And who is paying these people to sit around and quibble while Rome burns?
