Many, many years ago, before the advent of the Internet, I read story about these clay tablets.
Seems that they are ubiquitous throughout the Middle East, found on the sides of roads and trash heaps.
Nobody knew what they were until the mid 1800’s when the cuneiform writings were finally deciphered.
The vast majority of them were TAX records..............
That’s a funny story, doesn’t happen to be true, unfortunately. :^) Most cuneiform tablets were found in batches, in the ruins of city-state archives around the Middle East, and of course the diplomatic archive at el-Amarna in Egypt.
