I read that book during the 80s. Hackett was with British 1st Airborne Division at Arnhem.

Excellent book by John Hackett: "The Third World War, August 1985" covers this pretty well. Is that the book involving East Germany, Czechoslovakia, the Soviet Union, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Narnia and Liliput? :-)
