Awful nice of the DOJ to simultaneously
1) Slap the Mueller prosecution team upside the head for recommending 6-9 years for process perjury while also
2) simultaneously reminding the entire country just how bad a crime it is to lie to federal investigators.
Great time for it!
Stone will get SOME time, but 6-9 years for same offense for which PapaD got 14 days is absurd.
Until he moved to withdraw his plea, the prosecution was happy with probation for Flynn. ...SNIP...
Let me go over something here.
The Dem base is full of low info people who don’t know what’s really going on or how anything really works.
Remember, many of these Dem base people thought the impeachment articles passing in the House meant Trump was gone.
I guarantee you many of the Dem base people don’t understand Stone isn’t being sentenced here for RUSSIAN COLLUSION involved in trying to get the emails “hacked by the Russians” from WikiLeaks to the Trump campaign.
Stone is being sentenced for LYING to federal investigators about having access to WikiLeaks that he NEVER HAD.
Like a freaking dumbass, Stone **bragged** in several media interviews he had a door into WikiLeaks and he was working so VERY HARD with WikiLeaks on behalf of the TRUMP CAMPAIGN to facilitate the transfer of the DNC emails.
He was **pretending** to be a player in all of this.
I’ve said all along Stone is a sad, pathetic figure desperate for attention and this leads him to LIE in media interviews that he’s way more important and connected than he really is and it was a HUGE mistake for him to make these false claims.
Lying to federal investigators under oath is a crime. I will never downplay that.
BUT
This guy is harmless and he should NEVER have been arrested in a predawn raid by a full tactical team and he CERTAINLY doesn’t deserve 6 years in prison. At worst, a few days in Club Fed.
What these dishonest Mueller prosecutors are doing is PLAYING TO THE DEM BASE that believes Stone committed a really SERIOUS HORRIBLE CRIME HERE.
A **Russian Collusion Crime** where he tried to get the ‘hacked Russian emails’ to the Trump campaign.
So these prosecutors then - without informing the DOJ they are about to do this - suddenly change the sentencing recommendation to 6-9 years & then when they are slapped down by the DOJ as they knew they would be, they can all do a flouncing exit out of the room.
The low info Dem base won’t realize it was a vastly inflated sentence for process perjury; they’ll think that Trump reached down from the White House via Barr & kept Stone from doing hard time for the RUSSIAN COLLUSION he engaged in with WikiLeaks.
It’s a stupid strategy.
