1/2 Singapore appears to have sustained community transmission of #coronavirus and may be 3-4 weeks ahead of what could unfold in U.S. Both nations should have similar number of imported cases, but Singapore density will make spread manifest more quickly.

Singapore has sustained community transmission despite most capable government on planet, best healthcare system on planet, and warm weather (high 80s to low 90s Fahrenheit this week).

We have had more deaths from the flu this year than this virus so far, that is correct. I don’t see the US government quarantining 10’s of millions of citizens. This is not just a flu and it’s still in its infancy.
I hope I’m wrong and the seasonal flu is the paramount number but it isn’t likely at this time.
I guess we could place bets on who is correct.
No worries. We are all good. (For a few weeks, ha ha.)
Yeah.
The Texas site is very unhelpful!
I’m nonplussed that the Dems in Va did better!

S. Korea’s 3rd evacuation plane arrives from virus-hit Wuhan with some 140 people aboard, 5 showing symptoms

They lead the world in starting plagues because they eat bats, and they are constantly together with pigs and ducks on their farms. Flu viruses are very able to jump from one species to another, and mutate when that happens, and the petri dish for that is China.
WRT your minuscule infection rate for all of China: first, we are still early in the game. Every disease starts with a single person...but what is important is how many get it after 6 or 12 months. You also seem to be believing the numbers that they are putting out. I know that we have pretty much nothing else to go on, but there is a consensus just about everywhere that China is lying to the entire world about this. Further, if it was such a minuscule percentage, why would they quarantine several hundred million people, and go around with giant machines spreading out massive amounts of disinfectant? Dont believe their words, look at their actions for what the real truth is. The Chinese leadership is panicked over this thing, and that is because they know something that they have not let the rest of the world know.
Autopsy was done today, but no information on it yet
TROY - State and Rensselaer County health officials are investigating the death of an Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute graduate student whose body was found Monday in the City Station apartments.
RPI has confirmed that 24-year-old Yeming Shen, a Chinese student who was studying Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems, died in the City Station apartments. Both RPI and officials at the Rensselaer County Health Department are trying to alleviate concerns over the possibility that the new coronoavirus was a factor.

It is an ongoing thread, but each day there is a new post with the latest numbers from China. Then the fun on FR begins.
We all make mistakes, including the people who are ripping off your head. It is quite OK to disagree, or to bring to bear more facts or a different type of analysis to a problem, so as to educate or persuade others. I dont think that a disagreement requires that people become verbally abusive to each other. That said, I have made that mistake myself many times. I try to avoid it as much as possible.
Except, like Hong Kong during the SARS epidemic, Singapore has a LOT of air conditioning. Indoors temps are in the 70’s with low humidity.
So it needs to be warm outside AND inside. Like in the poor countries in SE Asia.

Anyone know of The Eyes of Darkness by Dean Koontz? Part of the plot involves a weaponized Coronavirus referenced as the Wuhan 400.
I was just reading that over at ZH.
I bet his sales will go up.
Interesting thread for healthcare professionals:
Hospital admin & healthcare workers: I would like to invite you to pile onto this thread regarding U.S. readiness for epidemic spread of #covid19 aka #2019nCoV aka #coronavirus : Do you have supplies, training, respiratory equipment. Have protocols been set? Chain-of-command?

Not a feel good read, for sure.
From 'official' China news.
The provincial guy that cane up with this idea will be promoted LOL!
Bloomberg: The 2020 #Singapore Airshow was deserted even before the 6pm close, a far cry from previous yrs when organizers would plead with attendees/reporters to leave.
The 100+ China’s PLAAF personnel there make it worse
