The Arabs are giving up on the Palestinians, and the Palestinian Authority knows it

Love him or loathe him, U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace proposal for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has formalized a seismic shift in Mideast geopolitics; one that has been roiling and brewing since 2009.

The so-called “Obama doctrine” in the Middle East was intended to re-calibrate American influence in the region, and its key strategy seemed to be to fete and kowtow to Iran, in the belief that “respect” would moderate the murderous mullahs.

It did not. The mullahs grinned, Secretary Kerry bowed and scraped, and Iran continued to foment war with its proxies and maintain its distinction as the pre-eminent financier of global terrorism, all while crushing domestic civil dissent. That, and Obama’s failure to enforce his infamous “red line” threat against Syria for attacking its own citizens with chemical weapons in 2013, destroyed American credibility among its traditional Middle Eastern allies.

Trump, on the other hand, gets stuff done. Syria deploys chemical weapons? He responds militarily. Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, mastermind of Iranian attacks on Jews and Americans around the world, becomes careless with his comings and goings? He is taken out in a clean drone strike.

The Middle East is a very tough neighbourhood, one where “progressive” platitudes and gender equality are not high on the issue matrix. Trump is seen as a decisive, effective leader. Furthermore, his administration understands and supports the paramount regional concern: Iranian hegemony and militarism.

Trump’s “deal of the century” is a starting point, not an ending. It articulates baseline principles to be adhered to in direct negotiations between the parties — the Israelis and Palestinians. Seventy years after the founding of the state of Israel, it should not be wildly controversial for the Palestinian leadership to accept and recognize the existence and legitimacy of the Jewish state.

the Fakestinian “cause” was just a ploy to try to get Israel to commit suicide by giving away more of her land.
It didn’t work.
Miraculously, imho, given the Fifth Column and Enemies Within Israel, including inside her government in Jerusalem

but since it failed, the Arabs “know when to fold them”

rickmichaels,

Your title is misleading. "Palestinians" are Arabs. So your title is saying Arabs are leaving Arabs.

Maybe if you clarified that Arabs are leaving the Arabs in Israel.

It’s almost a cliché now that every article about President Trump has to start with some form of “love him or hate him”.

“Since 1948, the Palestinian leadership has adhered to an obstructionist orthodoxy, espousing an uncompromising rejection of the state of Israel. They have poured their resources and energy into hatred. UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees) — which is supposed to be a politically neutral humanitarian organization — receives foreign funding, which is allocated to operate health clinics, schools and other laudable initiatives. Except, the money is handed over holus bolus to local Palestinian authorities, unhindered by any meaningful oversight or accountability. School curricula is rife with anti-Israel and anti-semitic hatred, ensuring that the conflict persists. This is well-documented and known.”

Trump should be demanding that this agency be shut down permanently & withhold any UN funding until it happens.

The problem is the Pali's know all they have to do is lay low for a few years until a more compliant administration comes to power here and then it's back on the gravy train for them.

Trump's gotta get something solid going with the time he's given. I believe he will...

It has been a while since I’ve posted, How are y’all doing?

Keep in mind that there has never, ever been a “Palestinian People”, unless you were talking about the Israelis’.

The people that are claiming that they are the “indigenous peoples of Palestine” are actually Jordanians, they have Jordanian passports, their culture is Jordanian, they speak Jordanian. If you look at their flag, it has the background of the...… you guessed it, the Jordanian flag.
The Arabs have been going along with this lie for about 57 years, and the western media, academia, politicians to name a few, go along with the lie as well.

Palestine, or Syria Palestina as the Romans re-named Judea belongs to the Israeli’s. The proof is everywhere you look over there. The Jordanians can’t cover all of it up, the land cries out that it is the home of the Israelites.

The U.S. has abandoned the role of a neutral broker and has sided solidly with Israel. There is nobody to try and bring the two sides together anymore, assuming it was ever possible to begin with, so it’s no wonder other parties are walking away from the mess. Israel and Palestine will solve this on their own. Or not solve it as the case may be.

Nope. If Trump has accomplished nothing else in the Middle East he has at least made it impossible for any future administration to come across as a neutral broker. Trump signed off on the unification of Jerusalem under Israeli control; no future U.S. president could say the future of Jerusalem is an issue to be negotiated. Trump's play gives Israeli permission to annex whole sections of the West Bank; no future U.S. president can say that the ownership of those areas needs to be decided upon. No future administration can be more compliant because Trump's removed anything to be negotiated over. The U.S. is officially out of the Middle East peace business.

Trump's gotta get something solid going with the time he's given. I believe he will...

No chance. There aren't two sides to negotiate with. Only one side who won and one side who lost.

The Muslims are killing fewer Israelis than they are each other, so that's something.
