Romney’s problem isn’t “Mormon”.
Romney’s problem is “Jealous Egotistical Asshole”, plain and simple.
The problem isn’t that Romney is a Mormon.
The problem is that the heavily Mormon Utah electorate is willing to back a poseur like Romney largely because he’s a co-religionist.
