Several posters today have been criticizing Mitt Romney by simply saying Mormon* or something similar, as if that explains it all. Im sure that every religion has someone who has done something foolish, but somehow, their religion is never mentioned. To help everyone understand that it is not Romneys religion that is making him act like a buffoon, Ive compiled a brief list of people that have helped make America great who were either raised Mormon or became Mormon. (In alphabetical order by last name.)
Gutzon Borglum: Carved Mt. Rushmore
John Moses Browning: Created the Colt M1911 pistol among many other firearms.
Clayton Christensen: Author of The Innovators Dilemma called the most influential business idea of the early 21st Century.
Stephen R. Covey: Author The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
Henry Eyring: Chemist, Developed the Transition State Theory used by others to make Nobel Prize-winning discoveries.
Philo Farnsworth: Inventor of Television.
Harvey Fletcher: Inventor of Stereophonic Sound.
James Fletcher: Head of NASA during development of the space shuttle.
Gladys Knight: Singer.
Don Lind: Astronaut.
Ed Big Daddy Roth: Rat Fink car designer.
Brent Scowcroft: National Security Advisor.
Also, Eleven Medal of Honor recipients were LDS.
*Proper name: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
Several others have also referred to his underwear. Heres a piece that explains that a little better.

Thanks for reading.
People get bored and distracted so easily; I agree that it will probably remain mostly symbolic; but I wish he would be removed. He is like McCain, only at this time in history, probably will do worse.
Then your method is horrendous you're a name calling easily baited terrible apologist for the cult of Mormonism. Further, you can't seem to offer a single reason in defense of a cult masquerading as a religion. Instead you just call people bigots? Does doing that make you feel smarter? People who don't agree with you because what, they have hatred in their heart? No its more likely its because you haven't ever had the ability to really think for yourself. Mormonism is a legitatmate faith really? How so? If so is Scientology? How about Louis Farrakans Nation of Islam I suppose those hateful anti American groups are cool with you too.
You can't defend Mormonism because is its a indefensible farce of blasemphy so trivially disproved and with no original timeless truths, just poorly plagerized works of other religons cobbled by a pervert conman trying to line up a gang bang- just because you don't like that doesn't make it untrue. But it's pretty apparent you have never read the book of Mormon and are just a wannabe shamer. You can't even insult people well - it's pathetic do you know how to reason or do you just get mad and say Bigot! Bigot! Bigot! it pretty funny actually, to see you pouring all that social justice virtuousness defending Mormons after what we just witnessed with their man on a white horse today. I'm just concerned your not going to have enough rightousness indignation left over for the next pointless thread.
You provide cover for people who poorly purport to be followers of Jesus Christ leading the vulnerable down a pretty sick and awful path - especially if you believe in the Trinity, yah know one where Lucifer ain't in the family photos.
I know its a tight labor market but how much does being Satan's little helper pay these days?
Why did the people shoot Joseph Smith as he was climbing out of the jailhouse window with a revolver again?
Anyhow Ms. Coulter this will have to keep till the morning I'm off to bed - you win, loser Mormon
Attacking me won’t hide or cure your bigotry.
Christians have Biblical instruction to oppose pretend Christian religions. Mormonism is one of such, so we oppose it. You call it bigotry, we call it standing for the Gospel once delivered. Even the name of the Mormonism religion is a deception since you do not have the same Jesus that we receive when born again, born from above. Here’s a hint: Jesus, God with us, is not the brother of satan, and as we are now God never was, so as God is now you will never become. (Got Lorenzo Snow?)
That guy’s position is not one of a difference of beliefs, but rather a visceral hatred of Mormons. By extension, your argument means that Catholics should hate Protestants and vice versa. Roman Catholics should hate Russian Orthodox, Episcopalians should hate Presbyterians, Methodists should hate Unitarians, etc., etc. And never mind all those Jews and Hindus and such. Is that what you believe?
He isn’t just stating opposition to Mormonism, he’s actively hating on them and using “Mormon” as an epithet. That’s intolerance and bigotry, not theological differences. Go back and read through the “discussion” and see for yourself.
This thread was started by someone, not me, that (I am guessing) was tired of all the Mormon bashing going on. My understanding was this is a forum for discussing conservative issues, not one for bashing people of other faiths. If I am wrong, please let me know now before I waste any more years here.
Unitarians are not Christian: they don’t believe in the Trinity, and they are a progressive New Age cult.
I have disagreements with mainline Protestant denominations, including Methodists (more than half the church will split to LGBT), but they are Christian because of agreement on core beliefs.
Mormonism is NOT Christian, as others have alluded. It is no more bigoted to say that, than to say that Islam is not Christian. Go read any good Christian reference on cults.
I am sure there are good Mormon patriots, but Mike Lee’s defense of Romney is very disappointing.
You are making a fool of yourself by accusing someone of hating people.i can hate an org or an ism, yet care about the people headed to hell due to org or ism lies. Dead soul Mormons revert to the victim card too quickly, closing themselves off to truth.
And so you go on repeatedly calling others epithets like "bigots" & "haters"? All because you disagree with their religious viewpoints on how they categorize cultists?
And you're not guilty of bashing others' religious perspectives how? Seems you actually relish being intolerant of others' religious vantage points with your repeated name-calling.
So which are we to believe? Your message of "tolerance" or your actions of "intolerance?"
A truly "tolerant" person would embrace all other religious perspectives.
I called one guy a bigot for a display of bigotry, for displaying visceral hatred of all members of a group. It was a statement of fact with the evidence plain for all to see right here on this thread.
I did not engage in baseless ad hominem attacks on him just because I disagreed with him, that’s what he was doing.
“A truly “tolerant” person would embrace all other religious perspectives.”
So that means I shouldn’t attack a person and call them names because they don’t agree with my beliefs about some other group, right? Maybe you should go read the whole “discussion” and see who’s being intolerant. Because it isn’t me pissing hate all over a whole religion and anybody that objects to my “religious perspective”.
But, hey, if Mormon-bashing is a protected industry here, just let me know, because that’s not what I expected. I’ve seen it from time to time but it’s recently gotten pretty bad as a result, obviously, of Romney’s vote to convict the President. That was the action of an individual and not an entire religion and one that the majority of adherents to said faith disagreed with. In any case, I will continue to defend Mormons as a group (or others) when they are attacked as a group. Debate the merits of their “religious viewpoints” all you like, that’s fair game. Call them all evil, murdering, blah, blah, blah and you’ve crossed the line.
If we were to swap “Mormon” for “Jew” in this discussion we wouldn’t even be having it.
One last thing: do not accept the Mark when it is commanded to you in the not distant future, after the Bride of Christ is snatched away from the wrath to come.
Clearly you have not read the thread. I am a Methodist - the not in favor of LGBQT pastors or gay marriage side of the schism - as I stated before. But since you, like the bigot we are discussing, need to use Mormon as some kind of insult, I’m guessing you have some issues there as well.
No matter. I won’t continue this “discussion” since it is clear that you can’t or won’t see the difference between criticism and bigotry. You being obtuse, deliberately or otherwise, does not make me “double-minded”. I’ll just hit the abuse link when I see abuse and we’ll go from there.
Have a great life.
Iam an old man and will be leaving this planet soon in the Rapture, before dying or after, same exit strategy. So you are a Me6thodist. why would you so ardently defend a cult religion trying to look Christian? Do you have a clue what will be happening AFTER Christians are snatched from this planet? Do you even believe what is coming, attested to by The Word of God? Just don’t take the Mark when commanded to you ...
BTW, if you knew more than a simplistic portrayal of Mormonism, you might be able to discern that Mitt’s religion IS a big problem. A man who would cast his eternal destiny to the fabrications of Joseph Smith is ripe for all manner of deception. Mitt would be a useful fool for the antiChrist’s agenda.
