The biggest problem for Democrats wasn’t the vote count (Iowa enthusiasm lacking)

DES MOINES - Iowa’s caucus-reporting meltdown was painful. But another grenade from Monday night, just beyond the line of sight, may be just as consequential.

For more than a year, Democrats have been preparing for high turnout in 2020, powered by an electorate juiced by rage against President Donald Trump. But in their first test of the year, early data suggested Tuesday that turnout was “on pace for 2016,” the Iowa Democratic Party said, far below levels many observers predicted.

In other words: Democrats were counting on Barack Obama-levels of enthusiasm. They got Hillary Clinton numbers, instead.

Looking at the low turnout estimate in Des Moines late Monday night, an adviser to one candidate said simply, “Wow.”

The turnout statistics are not final and were referenced only briefly, tucked into an Iowa Democratic Party statement about the reporting fiasco just as it began swirling out of control.

"What we know right now is that around 25% of precincts have reported, and early data indicates turnout is on pace for 2016,” the party’s communications director, Mandy McClure, said in a prepared statement.

I’d say it’s worse than what they are admitting.

2016 numbers for Democrats with Trump’s rally turnouts means 2020 is looking good for Trump. We need to get the turnout to take back the House.

The best democrat turnout so far has been at Trump’s rallies...

“I’d say it’s worse than what they are admitting”

Naw....a Dem, let alone the Director of Dem. Communications, graduate of the Joseph Goebbels school of Communication, would never lie.

The rage against Trump has burnt itself out. They tried impeachment... which is a political train wreck.

What else do they have? If Trump is for anything, they must be against it because its Trump.

That’s what the Democrat Party has become.

“They got Hillary Clinton numbers, instead.”

Even worse - it was far more split than in 2016.

Dumbing down of America has succeeded if Americans were “enthused” for the community organizer from Chicago ghetto.

Obama lied about your doctor and your health insurance, did nothing to take away land from ISIS, imported Muslims without proper vetting, imposed regulations on top of regulations on small businesses, depleted the military, started a war in Libya causing more chaos in middle-east, gave guns to drug cartels from Mexico, and doubled the national debt.

There’s people who may hate Trump, but love living in Trump’s America. Why upset me applecart?

I suspect the numbers are far worse than being reported.
If things look as bad in NH, you will see serious panic.

First, it hasn’t been “over a year.” It’s been almost three and a half years of non-stop Trump hate. Constant.

NO party can survive on hate. While I disagree with his actions, this is why Lincoln urged “malice for none, charity for all,” because he thought it would destroy the Republicans to keep re-fighting the Civil War. (I think he should have eradicated the DemoKKKrat Pary once and for all).

Second, what NONE of the pundits are mentioning is that for three years, the DemoKKKrats have proceeded as though America hates Trump. That “may” have been viable up through the Mulehead investigation, but after that it was clear that the the American people rendered a “not guilty, NOW MOVE ON” verdict.” As usual, the DemoKKKrats did not listen.

Third, the pundits MIGHT ask, what if instead of “lower” DemoKKKrat turnout, the GOP is taking voters? Now, that would really terrify them.

Since the start of the campaign, a critical part of the candidates’ electability-based appeals had been a promise that they were uniquely suited to rouse an unreliable electorate in the fall.

Those stupid voters just will not do what the are ordered to do!/S

This sums up the Progressive/Leftist philosophy.

They’d be excited as hell to get the enthusiasm at Hillary levels. I don’t think even the Dems want their country to be represented by a gay guy to foreign leaders in Saudi Arabia, or an old school 80 year old Soviet Communist to the former ComBloc countries like Poland and Czech Republic. If either of them gets the nomination, it will be nothing but embarrassing, made worse by the violent riots that will follow. Hopefully, it will be the end of the Dem party.
