Added to my list. I’m trying so hard to remember what words my grandparents or mother used and can’t think of a single one. Grandfather was a Texan more used to using expressions like “Pull the chain. Dallas needs the water.” I’m thinking I never heard a swear word until I went outside and heard little boys saying things I quickly stopped them from expressing in my presence. And as I grew to adulthood and college, people I hung around with just didn’t swear. Since I went to U of Chicago, maybe they swore in Latin and I just didn’t understand them.

I recall George’s goober term as I was a pre-teen/teen during those years. Times were good for Michigan and the UAW (until 1967/68)
My black friends and acquaintances (some were quite militant) thought of George as “just another white guy who thinks he knows what’s good for us nukkas.”[sic].
That is why he was enamored of Alinsky, another white guy with black friends who though HE knew what was best for them nukkas. It is no wonder that the Panthers and WU went their separate ways.
