Its been widely reported that the virus can live on surfaces for over two weeks. The US and other countries import vast amounts of goods that are manufactured throughout China. These goods are air and ocean freighted throughout the world.
Governments are focused on quarantining people who show signs of infection (although its also been reported that an infected person need not show signs of an infection and can still transmit the virus), but we are overlooking the more insidious vector of foods and non-food items that come from potentially infected regions.
Our highly efficient distribution networks may exponentially speed the growth curve of this disease to the point that quarantines become useless.
BUY CLOROX.............................AND ITS STOCK...............
You make good points.
Let me offer this counterpoint...if this was a huge problem, would we see sick/infected FedEx/DHL/UPS/Amazon workers by now?
Great Value bleach is cheaper :-)
Widely reported where? Sources? BTW this is a vanity and should be in Chat not in News. Just saying
Looks like the mods moved it to Chat already : )
... but not the flow of goods
dude, it takes a month for a Chinese cargo ship to reach the USA
Lots of papers written on how long this particular family of zoonotic viruses live on surfaces.
General consensus, at LEAST 5 days, more likely a week or two given numerical measurement of virus population decrease over time.
correction over a month to get here
Slow boats from China might be a good thing after all :)
Maybe that is why China is spaying disinfectant over the cities and streets. There has been videos of this and now they are using drones to spray with.
It appears China knows this already, they started spraying a couple of days ago. What is China hiding?
Making stuff up I see.
The wife works in a Northeast university. It is about 50-70% Asian population of students and professors (from what I can see and I drive her there daily). Id say in the past few weeks at least half are wearing surgical masks. I hear they regularly travel back to China (etc). Now the school determined they wont pay for flights back and forth to China due to the virus. (I guess this has to do with deals worked out with professors who have some sort of deal worked out).
Its amazing how once again our borders are wide open and to people from a sworn enemy.
Iphones travel by aircraft as do many other things including groceries.
So it stays alive for a month on dry surfaces? Seems unlikely, every airplane in the world is HEAVILY infect then and has been for 45 days, where are all the sick?
It’s been reported....that corona virus lives on surfaces for 2 - 4 weeks....
Why not post a link to your ‘reported’ source?

Patients who have recovered from #pneumonia caused by the novel #coronavirus still face the risk of being infected again, an expert said at a press conference of Chinas National Health Commission on Friday.

If true then this shit definitely came out of a bio weapons lab. Time to make their leadership pay dearly if true.
