Per the Daily Mail, hospitals in the US can easily do the test in 4-6 hours to confirm the virus but the FDA is not giving them permission so the hospitals must send it to the CDC which takes days.
Indiana has announced monitoring cases
I was under the impression that the CDC communicated the testing process. If that was the case, hospitals can test a sample and knowand send another sample to the cdc for their confirmation.

CDC now sending out test kits to states/hospitals for “local testing” instead of sending all samples to Atlanta.
Screw that. Hospital does both. Uses internal test for internal procedures. Does not tell patient. Waits for CDC confirmation. Then tells patient if both agree.
