I did read that many of the recovered do relapse. Someone over at FluTrackers speculated the other day that perhaps the reason they have so many cases but so few listed as cured is they are holding them a long time to make sure they are really over it. (Or they were tested and sent in their way to try to fend it off on their own). Hard to know whats really going on.
LAWRENCE, Kan. The Lawrence Memorial Hospital is investigating Kansas first potential case of coronavirus, according to a statement by the hospital.
The hospital recently received a patient with respiratory illness symptoms who had recently traveled to Wuhan City in the Hubei Province of China, which is where the coronavirus originated. The patient will be placed in an isolation room designed for infection prevention.
Germany cases
Bavarian Health Ministry says the 3 new patients are colleagues of the 1st case. It was previously reported that the 1st patient had been working just hours before being diagnosed with coronavirus.

“I want to know HOW, out of all the respiratory illnesses in any major city in the winter...they detected the signal of this PARTICULAR virus...”
ARDS and very distinctive chest xrays (ground glass appearance on areas of lungs).

4 in Germany. There was also a 5th person with coronavirus but she went home to China before she was diagnosed.
That case seems to be blowing up fast (yikes)

actually the original patient zero in the german situation was from china visiting her german colleagues. she had a visit from her parents who live in wuhan just before she left for germany. was likely infected as soon as they walked in the door and not symptomatic until after her trip to germany.
this stuff is insanely transmissible.
The 1919 flu killed 1 in 10 mostly from bacterial pneumonia before we had anti-biotics. Killed 1 in 25 cases in the US. Novel coronavirus seems to be 2 or 3% but the cases are probably way undercounted. Might be more like 0.3% or even 0.03%
I just don't believe that. It would certainly not be typical of most of the Chinese professionals I have known.
Also, I took a look at the tests described here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laboratory_diagnosis_of_viral_infections
(Interesting side note from that article: genome sequencing has become much more common due to lowering costs. China would have low costs...)
Right off the bat in the process (sorry, bad pun) you've got:
Serious (or worse) symptoms.
Presence of respiratory virus confirmed, but doesn't match the usual / known suspects.
How does that not raise red flags? Or at least spur further investigation? Even here in the US, in every case I know of with someone with a serious health problem and the tests were negative, further tests were run until the cause (believed to be cause) was isolated. (This excepts a person who died before the pathology was determined, and the family declined an autopsy, so cause of death was simply "pneumonia".)
To the contrary, OF COURSE the Chinese have their antennas out, so to speak, for this sort of thing. It's a high risk natural to their environment. They'd have to be morons to not be on the lookout, and we agree they are not dummies.
This does not rule out some sort of bioweapons research connection, or a lab "escape", it just seems MUCH more likely to me that Mo' Nature has taken advantage (again!!) of what Chinese culture has given her, in spades.
It will ramp up everywhere just like China. They quarantined over 40 million to stop it and failed. Every major Chinese city with human to human now. Wonder if someone is contemplating nukes. Lol.
France confirms fourth case of coronavirus in elderly Chinese tourist
You misunderstood everything I typed.
I’m sorry you wrote a page for that.
I think they WOULD be looking for something in this PARTICULAR city.
Always.
Because they KNOW they’ve lost BL3 SARS from BL3 labs before. Once just a few years ago.
Those doctors probably (ok, maybe not the peon doctors but the dept heads) are on notice to see anything ‘different’ or ‘hinky’ and report it up the chain. They seem to have done so. CCP totally dropped the ball because they may have realized what happened or think denial is the answer. Who knows.
I DO think the hospitals in that area were looking for ‘something’. That’s what I was implying with my ‘what made them notice THIS signal over all the OTHER noise’. I think those hospitals are always looking for something. I can’t blame them. A Bl4 lab just across town necessitates that. I’d be willing to be Atlanta and other places we have such labs do the same thing. It would make total sense.
It’s a shame the CCP totally dropped the ball here. Totally understandable though, russian commies did the same thing with chernobyl.
Japan reports first domestic transmission of coronavirus
Tokyos mission to evacuate its nationals from Wuhan, the Chinese city at the center of a coronavirus outbreak, got underway Tuesday, as Japan reported its first case not linked to recent travel to China.

Is the Monte Carlo simulation holding for today? Deviating at all?
I dont think they’ve updated the Chinese numbers yet. I just looked and did not see that much had changed.

I think they release them closer to the evening in ET Zone.
Beards harbor all kinds of nastiness. The women in your life will thank you. Lol.
Agree. Older people don’t get the care a 30 year old would.
