That’s NOT how it worked. The Spanish Flu caused an over-reaction by healthy immune systems that damaged healthy tissue / cells. People with weak immune systems did better.
Come to think of it, we have all this irresponsible talk of this one being some sort of escaped bioweapon. If I was developing a bioweapon, I’d want it to target the bulk of military age people, and it’d be a LOT more deadly than what we are seeing so far.
FOrt Detrick got shut down indefinitely by the CDC because of biosafety issues in August. (dont know if they are reopened)

I am not of the mind to say this is a bio weapon. I would imagine if they were going for terror, you’d do something messy like small pox.
If you were going for volume, I guess anything to overwhelm the system would work.
I think this is some virus that just jumped. Between Africa and China the conditions are so bad, this stuff is bound to happen.
