I found an article from about 10 years ago re: oregano oil being effective against the corona virus. When I read the article it didn’t mention corona per se’ but discussed anti-viral properties and effects of oregano oil. I guess it couldn’t hurt?
Be ultra careful with oregano or any essential oil, and oregano is ultra strong. All EOs (other than a very few, like lavender) have to be used in great dilution. They are still very powerful. I do a lot with EOs and have for years, and learned that even 1 pt per million of some EOs, like cinnamon, can kill various microbes. Many claims are made by those selling EOs and products; better to find out from sites or books that are not selling.
I make a neem based sanitizer with EOs and use it frequently and carry whenever out and about.
PS, I should have added, be ultra cautious ESPECIALLY when taking internally. In fact with oregano EO better to never take internally.
THREAD SLIDE ALERT!
100% pure oregano oil.
WARNING: oregano oil is super hot - like habanero hot. Keep your fingers out of the oil and wash thoroughly when done.
Slightly steaming water in small sauce pan. Try for no boiling bubbles.
Put one drop of oregano oil in water.
Put your face over the light steam and breath in. The first huff is harsh, but you can control breathing to slowly inhale. Inhale alternating through sinuses and trachea (try to get deep into lungs). Add another drop if you run out and want to keep going.
I do this at the first sign of an issue. Clear runny nose, sneezing, coughing, throat tickle or watery ears is a sign. Its best to do it after a suspected exposure (like after a flight or first week of school) and nip it in the bud.
If youre already sick and know it, this can help sickness duration too. Huff 2 or 3 times a day to cut off some of the time youre sick. You can also eat the oil in pill form. Gelatin capsules will hold a couple of drops of the oil without disintegrating. Prepare for oregano burps. Ive also read that you can nebulize the oil but have never tried it.
Also that sauce pan is going to need to be washed with soap unless you want the next thing cooked in it to taste of oregano.
