California ex-pat’s Facebook page for those eyeing Texas move nears 16,000 followers

Marie Bailey and her husband used to live in Seal Beach, Calif., about 28 miles south of Los Angeles. But several years back, after years of talking about it, the couple left California and moved to Texas.

Now they live in a bigger house in the Dallas area, pay less money in taxes – and love their life in the Lone Star State.

“Everyone in California is nervous about taxes and prices,” Bailey told the Dallas Morning News last year. “We became much more calm when we came here. You are in a constant rat race in California to afford it.”

Then they vote for Dems. Liberals are a plague.

Part of their plan for takeover is implementing terrible laws that dricenout middle and upper class liberals to other states. Replace them with illegals.

Then the morons will vote to destroy whatever host stage they infect.

The bigger thing [in California] is cost of living, how cramped it’s getting. We have a lot of friends who are considering moving out of L.A.”

Bring your diseased politics elsewhere and you’ll turn elsewhere into the place you left.

Hey. I love Texans and I love the idea of Texas. I was born and grew up in Colorado. I’m sorry. I would absolutely DIE in Texas. Anyone thinking of relocating may want to spend a week there first. If you are used to living where things stick up above the horizon that are not man made you may not be able to last there, either.

I’ve been trying to get my sister and sister-in-law to move out of there for years. We grew up in San Diego. Back when it was a “sleepy little Navy town.” I had a great childhood with a lot of wonderful memories. Love my home town and home state, but it breaks my heart what is happening to them.

I know it’s not easy to move to another state, but they need to get out of there. I moved to Arizona 26 years ago and have never regretted it.

There are many parts of Texas and all are very different. Yes, parts are flat as a pancake, but we also have the piney woods, the hill country, coastlines, and many other various areas.

I spent most of my life in Ohio. I agree that Texas can be almost eerily flat.

Now that I’ve lived in WV for a few years, where you can seldom see more than 1/2 mile or so around you because of the terrain, I’m not sure I could take Texas without an adjustment period.

The reality for Texas is a little different than the ideal. Every moving thing has venom. Every growing thing has thorns. The bushes (Mesquite) the trees (Osage). The sand out numbers the water by over 1,000 to one. It is a place you really can die from thirst and not just here and there. Summers are sweltering and either bone dry or 100% humidity. You have to be tough to be a Texan and that’s why they love it, I guess.

Quite a number of Texans spend a lot of time with horses. My mother spent her youth with horses every day on the farm and riding to school and into town. One thing I noticed growing up around a lot of people who spent a lot of time with horses (even though I didn’t). They are a lot more resistant to “being fooled” or “taking crap”. They get to “know” the horse and how to make it perform. They are used to working with a fairly intelligent creature that is constantly trying to assert his own will and how to deal with that and generally don’t take crap from people either. They see through the con and respond with contempt and if you don’t get the message prepare for tar and feathers. Traveling salesmen and politicians beware.

East Texas is flat and wooded, but you gotta see the hill country in Spring covered in bluebonnets. Now, that’s a sight!
