There wasn't a significant difference at the start of our marriage. I had a net worth of -$5k and she was -$20k. Over the 13 years of marriage, I created a net worth of close to a million, she had negative several hundred thousand (that I covered). My income has gone up 12x since we got married and she, despite having a college degree when we got married and I did not, actually makes less money now than then. Assuming someone will stay the same in today's world for 60 years is crazy. A pre-nuptial agreement doesn't have to be crazy - it can simply state what you save is yours and what I save is mine, lay out rules for potential alimony or not, etc.

For a man under the age of 45 with an IQ 1 Std Deviation above the mean I think a pre-nuptual agreement is the ONLY way to go. Remember, you aren't just married to her, but the state with marriage today. That pre-nupt protects from both.

Society and culture assumes any success by either husband or wife during marriage is a JOINT achievement. For either husband or wife to achieve financial success needs the encouragement, cooperation and other contributions of the partner. My wife raised the kids and kept the house in good order while I was out making my million. So if I had a prenup, I can just ditch her when she has a few wrinkles and find a younger model by taking most of the money?

Prenup is for your money BEFORE marriage, not DURING marriage.
