Maybe cause they are DIMwits. LOL
I often need to know measurements, so I have a key ring that has a small receding tape measure. It will measure anything from 0 to 3 ft.
Before I found that, I relied on finger and arm.
One of my fingers from the tip to the wrist is 3”. From the wrist to the bend of the arm (where they stick the needle to take your blood)is 10”. Never without a measuring device.
