Chesley Sullenberger, the pilot who performed the “Miracle on the Hudson”, has told Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump to “grow up” and “show some decency”, after she mocked Joe Biden for stuttering.
Biden, a frontrunner for the Democratic nomination to face President Trump in November, has spoken openly about his lifelong experiences with a stutter.
Lara Trump, who is married to the president’s second son Eric, works for the Trump re-election campaign and spoke in that capacity at an event in Iowa on Friday, the day after the seventh Democratic debate.
“I feel kind of sad for Biden,” she said. “And you know that’s when it’s not going well for him, right, because I’m supposed to want him to fail at every turn. But every time he comes onstage or they turn to him, I’m like, ‘Joe, can you get it out? Let’s get the words out, Joe.’”
Trump is not the first prominent supporter of her father-in-law to face criticism for mocking Biden’s stutter: Fox News has aired montages of his stuttering on the debate stage and former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders deleted a mocking tweet in December.
Nonetheless, on Friday Trump criticised reporting of her remarks and insisted in a tweet that “anyone who takes 10 seconds to watch what I actually said can clearly see that I never mention a stutter – didn’t even know he had one”.
On Saturday, a well-known voice fired back. Sullenberger, known as “Sully”, became famous in January 2009 after his airliner struck a flock of Canada geese but he managed to land it on the Hudson river, saving the lives of all 155 people onboard. In 2016, Clint Eastwood made the story into a film with Tom Hanks in the eponymous title role.

Good for you! Take your stutters and deal with it privately. And get out of politics!
Sully likes the adulation of the elites. As a professional pilot, he should endeavor to be remembered solely for his piloting skills. Too tempting I guess
After the horrible things they say about Trump they want to bash Lara for saying “get the words out Joe” and how she feels sorry for him?? HOW HORRIFYING... Anybody who watches him feels the same thing...
And since when has Biden had a stuttering problem?

There’s a difference between stuttering and tripping over your thoughts. Lara never used the term “stutter”.
Lara Trump did NOT mock Biden because of his stutter, in fact she had no idea that the Burisma corrupt jerk even stutters..funny how commies say “We cant mock folks” yet they mock Trump about everything, his hands, his face, his hair, everything and that is fine

That's my take too...I have NEVER heard he had a stuttering problem...I always assumed he is just stooopid.

Biden does not have a stuttering problem, he has a cognitive problem. My Aunt has confusion problems and has trouble getting her thoughts out at times, she isn’t stuttering, she is having problems trying to focus and her brain just can’t do what it once did. That is exactly what is wrong with Biden and he does have problems. Sullenberger got it all wrong.
Has Biden always had an issue with stuttering? I don’t believe he has. I have heard numerous clips of him from years gone by and he has not “stuttered”, nor is he “stuttering” now. He is fumbling for words because he’s an elderly man. There’s a big difference.
Fumbling for words because you have trouble remembering details and you can’t spit them out like you used to is something that must be pointed out in a presidential campaign. It reveals the candidate’s state of mind, and if he’s with it enough to take on THE MOST IMPORTANT AND DEMANDING JOB IN THE WORLD.
I hope Lara Trump sees this for what it is - another attempt to depict a Trump as making fun of a disabled person.
