'...even in those cases where no desirable replacement exists, there would be a huge impact on a sitting rep by ...'someone knocking on his door, looking him in the eye and say something like “ Sir, I would like to show you this list of 15,000 registered voters who have pledged to vote against you if you vote for any law that in any way limits their rights as described in the 2Nd Amendment.

'Of course the exact wording should be devised by a constitutional lawyer so as to leave no loopholes.'

I think you are correct. Matt Bracken - a man who is not a 'hothead' - has given all of this deep and informed thought, and convincingly set his thoughts out in a recent article:

'I’d continue to marshal our forces for maximum effect at local county and city council meetings. The 2A sanctuary county movement has been extremely effective at getting positive attention through this means. We should keep attending every local political meeting in force. Make your local politicos feel the heat. Keep pressing at the county and city level. Experiment with holding “unorganized militia” flash mob events. Be imaginative, and always use friendly local terrain to your advantage.

Pick your own battlefields and venues, instead of being sucked into theirs.

If this does not give the hot heads pause to consider what is going on, they are hopeless and will probably destroy any chance to keep the 2Nd Amendment in its present form.

What the following shows me is that some of the people who are part of the gun control movement know that bad things are going to happen and they are staying home.

[…] Because of the threat of possible violence, organizers of an annual vigil for victims of gun violence — usually held on the King holiday each year — said Friday that they have canceled their event this year.

“Given the serious concerns about possible violence on Monday, we recognize that we can not guarantee the safety of the brave gun violence prevention activists and survivors who have fought so hard for this day,” said Lori Haas, state director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. (link)
