"""Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit royal life COMPLETELY: Couple drop HRH titles, will REPAY £2.4m spent on Frogmore Cottage and won't receive any more taxpayers' cash as Queen says they remain 'much loved family members'""" The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are no longer to use their HRH titles and will repay £2.4million of taxpayer's money spent on renovating their Frogmore Cottage home, Buckingham Palace announced tonight, as a Megxit deal was sealed.

The Queen said in a statement: 'Following many months of conversations and more recent discussions, I am pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family.

'I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life.

In Canada, these are more likely to be their new associates:

“Haha.

“Frogmore Cottage”

It was a sign. :)”

Are you saying this is kinda the fractured fairy tale where the girl kisses the prince and he turns into a frog?

No she did not. Marrying a foreign national does not require you to surrender your American citizenship.

Windsor is a made up name. They changed it from Saxe-Coburg in 1917.

No she didn’t give up her American citizenship, as she hasn’t gotten British citizenship yet.

Actually, a divorce in England is far worse...

In England, assets acquired BEFORE the marriage might be considered:

By the way, they’re both wealthy. She was earning millions through the TV show and her website.

Huh? Sales from tours and souvenirs are taxed-most of that money goes into state coffers, the Royals get a cut of it along with income from the properties they live in, but MOSTLY DON’T OWN.

Remembering those wedding souvenir items at Buckingham Palace with American and British flags in the design, then items celebrating the birth of Archie (no title please), I wonder how those are selling now.

I always think that certain UK people were extremely disappointed that baby Archie turned out to be whiter than Harry himself.

Merkel is this generations’ Wallis Simpson.

She wanted to trade off her royalty status AND promote social justice ... while living off the state’s money without the responsibilities.

I hadn’t noticed the souvenirs really, but I imagine some people are disappointed.

I believe the great plans for ‘royal sussex’ are the reason for the big announcement. Whispers are that the Queen, and the govt, insisted that all negotiations, contracts and agreements for any promotions/tv/books/products/etal were to be reviewed by the appropriate ministers beforehand. And all conversations with business partners, agents, galpals, Oprah, Elton, etc, as to their ‘advice’ were to be detailed. If they’ve lost their HRH titles, it would seem the couple didn’t want to comply and so the hammer fell.

The Queen photographed two days in a row in the driver’s seat of her car, sent the message she was and would remain in control of the reputation and respectability of the monarchy. And the invitation of a certain granddaughter to Windsor, along with new publicity for Princess Royal Anne has made it clear that one royal can be replaced with another at a nod, streamlined monarchy or no.

Sad that not long ago Harry said he saw what “monetizing” did to his mother, that she wasn’t looked at as a person. And here he is so much later, complicit in trying to do the same to his grandmother’s legacy, his family and his country. But it looks like the Queen has his number and she and her ministers have listened to the public - here and in Canada.

Good summary. I hope you are right. It does sound like Oprah, et al, have been way too powerful in helping Harry and Meghan’s Megxit. I do think the squelching of Meghan’s progressive activism has been a huge catalyst in their choices. I think she would rather be political than ‘Royal’. (But she still thinks she can still be royal anyway. Her ‘friends’ agree as I suspect she will always be referred to as ‘Duchess’ by her ‘friends’).

Harry although 6th in line for the throne, doesn't stand a real chance, so I think it was more like:
