George Washington in his personal letters (Primary reference level sources) asserted that the Illuminati were present in government then.
Washington’s letters that I read, stated that he was aware of Illuminati, but that he did not think that they had yet infiltrated America’s lodges.
He was responding to letters of warning from a foreign country —maybe France.
He also said that he was going to keep a watchful eye out for them. I’m sure they probably did arrive during his lifetime, but not sure on more exact time frame.
Not something I agree with or an idea I have any respect for.
George Washington was a mason, not a global conspirator. Masons were everywhere for centuries. My grandfather and probably great grandfather and probably on and on were masons. Normal people who grouped together in clubs because that’s how you got to know the people who helped you in your careers. For centuries, clubs were the most common place men went when they left their families at home. Not a big deal. A normal deal that everyone was in. Usually the obits showed five or more of these clubs. Masons were just one of them.
I don’t go for conspiracy theories. No, Baggie, I don’t think Q is a conspiracy theory. But GW and Illuminati I think are.

I have heard much of the nefarious, and dangerous plan, and doctrines of the Illuminati, but never saw the Book until you were pleased to send it to me.9 The same causes which have prevented my acknowledging the receipt of your letter have prevented my reading the Book, hitherto; namely, the multiplicity of matters which pressed upon me before, and the debilitated state in which I was left after, a severe fever had been removed. And which allows me to add little more now, than thanks for your kind wishes and favourable sentiments, except to correct an error you have run into, of my Presiding over the English lodges in this Country. The fact is, I preside over none, nor have I been in one more than once or twice, within the last thirty years.
