The act of grace, in itself is perhaps unfair. The parable of the workers in the field - all got paid the same no matter when they started. What doesn’t come through in that parable - was the HUGE wage they all were paid.

In a lot of Neil’s lyrics I hear them as seeking for something almost spiritual, although I’m probably putting my own filter on them. And of course other lyrics that mock God. I have no idea how it works at the end, but I hope he had a chance to know Jesus.

I feel bad that he didn’t want to share his battle with the world. I get it - he was a very private person. I hope that he had a large network of close friends and family to help him through all he went through.

“And if the music stops
There’s only the sound of the rain
All the hope and glory
All the sacrifice in vain
If love remains
Though everything is lost
We will pay the price
But we will not count the cost”

I love the look on the wive’s faces as the crowd erupts. The boys just stand and wave. The wives are covering their mouths in shock and awe and looking at their husbands with surprise.

And Alex’s blah blah blah speech. He does the same thing with his guitar - the chords and notes telling a story without saying a word.

I’m gutted. I was holding out hope that they might tour again. Got laid off and now Neil Peart is gone...what a crappy week.

Had to post it officially: this hurts as much as when Bowie passed.

Neil was worthy of respect for so many reasons. Prayers for the family/fans.

Lol that sound like my husband; I’m a huge Rush fan and he can’t stand Geddy Lee’s voice.

Well if the brain and soul are related, then brain cancer could affect the soul in some way.

Compared to the crap some of these new age bands pass off as drums. That electric stuff sounds like farting. And then there is the manufactured high end twinging that sounds like the music coming from a ole pop goes the weasel box.

The Black Crows were opening for ZZ Top in the early ‘90s when they had their rocket rise up the charts. ZZ Top nuked them as the opening act.

This. And so much more, all of it in fact, but, this. Neil wrote these words. Neil wrote so many beautiful words. I am gutted, but so what. So many fans all over this earth crying in their Macallan tonight.

The Garden

https://youtu.be/SAxtFSpHxts

The Garden
Rush
In this one of many possible worlds, all for the best, or some bizarre test?

It is what it is - and whatever
Time is still the infinite jest

The arrow files when you dream, the hours tick away - the cells tick away

The Watchmaker keeps to his schemes
The hours tick away - they tick away

The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect
So hard to earn, so easily burned

In the fullness of time
A garden to nurture and protect

In the rise and the set of the sun
‘Til the stars go spinning - spinning ‘round the night
It is what it is - and forever
Each moment a memory in flight

The arrow flies while you breathe, the hours tick away - the cells tick away

The Watchmaker has time up his sleeve

The hours tick away - they tick away

The treasure of a life is a measure of love and respect
The way you live, the gifts that you give

In the fullness of time
It’s the only return that you expect

The future disappears into memory
With only a moment between
Forever dwells in that moment
Hope is what remains to be seen

I saw Guns n Roses do the same to Aerosmith back in the late 80's when I
was in the service. They essentially played "Appetite for Destruction"...the
crowd actually called for an encore...only time I have ever seen that happen
with an opening act.

I really think God forgives all. If he was even showing a glimpse of the Lord’s presence oh, he would have gotten down on his knees and thanked Him for his all-encompassing love
