Rest in peace Mr. Peart.
I can listen to him for HOURS. I have a Rush playlist that lasts an entire 8-hour workday.
(rolls eyes)
I have no doubt about that at all.
When I think of drummers that blow my frickin’ mind, two come to mind, Peart and Carey.
I love both Rush's (which is not as much a rarity as you would think). I remember seeing them in LA in the 90s during their Test for Echo tour. Geddy introduced the instrumenral song "Limbo". He explained that it's not a song about a conservative talk show host. Still cracks me up to this day. Rush has always remained as apolitical as possible, which I appreciate. I hope Neil was saved, which I can say for everyone, regardless of how atheistic he claimed to be. He was a masterful musician, so intellectually curious. What a loss for the music world, even though he was retired already.
Yeah, Clapton seems to ultimately choose a respectable path. If there is a song out there that gets me to cry its “tears in heaven.”
It will always be Keith Moon for me, and Peart was heavily influenced by Keith.
Thanks for posting. Condolences to family and friends of Neil. R.I.P., sir. love
So, next time I hear that screeching scream, the pounding that goes along with it will no longer be there? I saw them in Chicago 1979. Don’t know how I made it through the whole concert.
Born in Hamilton Ontario but Toronto will mourn this loss as well.
I am heartsick to hear this.
Rest in Peace, Professor... You were and always will be an inspiration to musicians like me everywhere.
There are so many others who deserve a short life, those that cause nothing but misery and pain to people... and then there are people like “The Professor” that deserve a much, longer life, who’ve been through so much, and yet have done so much for so many, and don’t get that chance.
There truly is no justice on this worthless rock called Earth.
This sucks. It truly, truly sucks...
Ayn Rand bump for later... ...
Ah I think The Who was just outside of my ability to be able to appreciate. It’s not that I don’t like them, but they never wowed me in such a way that pulled me in.
I may be drunk for the rest of this weekend.
This is f*cking horrible news.
It’s gonna be rainy and windy with a chance of an ice storm this weekend in the Toronto area. Good gloomy weather.
I saw Aerosmith, Rush, Styx and Thin Lizzy on March 21 1975 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Aerosmith was the headliner. Excellent Show!
I saw Rush again December 27 1976 with Bob Seger before them, and then Atlanta Rhythm Section and another unknown opener band named Roadmaster. This was in Market Square Arena, Indianapolis.
I am so frigging sorry to hear this news.
Haven’t felt this bad since Stevie Ray Vaughn passed away.
Well that sucks.
