The New York Giants decision to hire New England Patriots wide receivers coach Joe Judge as their new head coach on Tuesday threw a lot of people around the NFL for a loop.
Experienced? Yes. Qualified? Questionable. Thats not the extent of the criticism, especially after a more qualified coordinator in that of Kansas City Chiefs Eric Bieniemy was passed up for the job.
According to Robert Klemko of the Washington Post, this move could be the final straw for African-American assistant coaches in the NFL ranks.

Because hiring from within is just stupid and makes no sense.
Strike that, I thought they were promoting their WR coach to head coach.
nfl is a business; some good, some bad businessmen; but to make it about race is stupid. Oh, that’s right... to some people everything is about race. They should drive race cars maybe.
what the F are the homeys bitching about now other than kneeling? Honkey players are the minority, and that aint enough eh?
John Harbaugh was a coach under Andy Reid.
Promise Keepers. Remember them? U of Colorado coach resigned to join start it up. All coaches should do the same. Lots of openings.
While I’m sympathetic to Eric Bienemy (great collegiate runner) I think that the NFL is a clique and not a big one, either. The problem with the ‘exodus’ is that while the NCAA major colleges are greater in number there aren’t that many paid positions at each school. Plus, you can’t walk out on a contract. Maybe you can, but you’ll probably be black-balled from ever returning.
“All 3 of them.”
Are they fed up that white people aren’t represented proportionately on the teams they coach? Are they working to fix that? What are they doing to correct this?
Fine. Let ‘em go. I can’t get worked up over NFL teams not hiring black head coaches. They can hire whomever they want.
The final straw?! So what are they gonna do?!
This article is based on ONE hiring decision. So the Giants had to hire a black coach? Ok
I hope no one takes Hue for their own good.
“The final straw for African-American assistant coaches.” If so, then grow up. Nobody needs special help in the NFL.
The only people who are really stuck obeying the Rooney Rule are the ones who created it.....the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They were more or less forced to hire a black coach after that bit of virtue signaling. And despite a number of increasingly apparent shortcomings he is virtually unfireable.
More black coaches in the NFL than white running backs.
Marvin Lewis is the designated Rooney Rule interviewee.
