What a marvelous realization!

That means that we have a Year Zero on reserve that we can use whenever we need it. For example, perhaps we should have substituted 2008 with Year Zero, and saved 2008 for some better time.

That would be “The Year OF Zero”; As said...it has no value.
Zero times 8 still equals zero.
Subsequently, “The Year of Zero” may correspond to 8 ^real^ years on the calendar but...they have no value.
