Universals Cats was in need of a holiday miracle. Instead, the filmmaking team behind the box office disaster got a lump of coal. Tom Hoopers big-screen adaptation has clawed its way to $38 million globally after two weeks in theaters, a dismal figure that could result in $100 million in theatrical losses, according to rival studio executives. After its disappointing $6.5 million domestic debut ahead of Christmas, Cats failed to gain any traction during the busiest time of year for moviegoing. In its sophomore outing, the film was relegated to No. 9 on box office charts, scraping together $8.7 million over the five-day holiday frame. Audiences, dissuaded by brutal reviews, instead made the Jellicle choice to see Disneys Frozen 2, Spies in Disguise, or essentially anything that didnt involve Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift and Idris Elba pretending to be felines.

It is a great movie... what they did to that guy was unreal... Trump is Jewell on steroids...
Kept thinking to myself... at least Trump has a stand he can get his message out from... Jewell had nothing....
easily one of the funniest movies ever made....
We saw Cats in about 1988...we were given the story to read beforehand, as people told us it wouldn’t make sense otherwise. Well..really don’t recall it being that great...but seeing Jackie Mason live WAS.
I’m a huge Andrew Lloyd Webber fan. Have seen Cats a few times because other people wanted to go. Never liked it.
I’m a huge Broadway fan. Phantom is my all time favorite but I’ll go see darn near anything. Have you seen Jersey Boys? It’s excellent.
The problem with Swift's lurch to the left is that it came across as fake and manufactured. She went from being apolitical to putting every SJW check in the box. Her fans saw right through it. For the first time in her career, she appeared dishonest.

I saw the play once, and thought it was absolute crap... don’t understand how this thing ever got the kind of following it did...
Honestly not sure who they thought the target audience for a movie version of it was...
Now she has learned (or re-learned) the greatest lesson of all.
Failure.
Hopefully she will learn.
They incorporated touches of the Mob, but it was very small and slight, and if you didn’t realize it, you would have missed it.
I love Jersey Boys, I’ve seen it 4 times on stage, and of course have the soundtrack.
:-)
I got dragged into this on my honeymoon back in 1987 - at the Winter Garden in NYC. All I remember was the one song (”Memory”) and a bunch of people in cat costumes prancing around. Lot of money to see even back then and I guess it sold out for years and years so there must be something to it. Like I said, it was my honeymoon so my mind was not totally focused on the stage.
You mean like THE WIZ? A good play on stage a horrible movie when they added pimps and “hos” and such so the movie would appeal to city blacks.
Another movie stinker from way back was SONG OF NORWAY. Thought I was going to puke in the theater.
Cool :)
You’d think I would have gone to see it knowing the full story behind them and their rise.
I wish I did.
Is it still playing? Maybe i’ll check it out.
Others are telling me the same thing.
How could I miss a musical about a bunch of Italian boys made good right over the bridge :)
I’m gonna see it.
lol
This is a G rated board.
Well PG.
PG-13 sometimes.
You’re right. I should have.
Please go see it!!!!!
You will not be disappointed!
