The tear gas canisters that the US fired off have spongy heads on them, so as not to wound anybody.

Not a surprise. I've been involved in many mil ops and we made every effort to protect non-combatants and to use minimal force.|
RT...This is what the alternative canisters do. (Especially when fired at citizens by the Iranian govt at short range.)
