““ That is not how glyphosphate works. I don’t know how this type of misinformation gets spread.

Kills gut bacteria when consumed.”

We grow wheat and used to grow milo. Never have we used glyphosphate on the growing plants, much LESS drenched the harvested seed in glyphosphate. It kills weeds and would kill the wheat and milo. That is what I mean by it does not work that way. GMO milo, soybeans, and corn can be sprayed. But it does not reach seeds which are harvested for cereal. Milo can be effected but do we have cereal or bread made with milo?

As far as gut bacteria, if you consume glyphosphate I am sure it would hurt you more than just in your gut. Read the label and I am sure it says not for human consumption. But thanks for the heads up on that.

“ if you consume glyphosphate

Plants sprayed or ground treated by glyco, are documented to be absorbed into the plants and seeds.

Even baby cereal.

Example: https://detoxproject.org/fda-finds-glyphosate-residues-in-oat-cereals-for-babies/

Many others have studies showing same results.

Better to avoid.

TO: outinyellowdogcountry:

1. First - Did you realize that my reply was to a joke and I was joking back?

2. Second- It’s NOT glyphosphate—it IS glyphosate:

3. Third- I never eat cereal primarily because of sugar/starches, but since you jumped in— the prevalence of glyphosate in cereal has been tested and there have been many articles about it.

4. Here’s are samples of how information on the subject is produced — first from Web Md:

For years, the chemical, which was first used in the U.S. in 1974, was considered to be virtually nontoxic to people and other animals. That’s because it works by blocking an enzyme that’s only made by plants. Since people don’t make the enzyme, the chemical was thought to be basically inert in the body.

But some studies in cells in petri dishes and animals have found that glyphosate and the weedkillers that use it may be able to damage DNA.

Internal company emails presented as evidence in Dewayne Johnson’s trial show Monsanto knew it was “very vulnerable in this area” and that the company hired outside scientists in an effort to discredit this science.

Exactly how the weedkiller might be causing this damage isn’t clear.

Davoren says new studies are pointing to a possible explanation. Though animals don’t contain the enzyme that’s blocked by glyphosate, bacteria do.

Jun 12, 2019What about organic cereals and oats? EWG findings suggest that organic products contain significantly less glyphosate that non-organic products. To be exact, 31 out of 45 conventional product samples contained glyphosate levels at or higher than 160 ppb, while 5 out of 16 organic brand products registered low levels of glyphosate (10 to 30 ppb).

The best way to avoid glyphosate is by knowing which foods contain it. Since corn and soybeans are commonly grown using the pesticide Roundup, cereals were the likely culprit. CEH recently tested a variety of cereals and found glyphosate contamination in the following products: Results:* Quaker Oatmeal Squares (2015 ppb) Gerber Oatmeal (545 ppb)

A NEWS REPORT A FEW MONTHS BACK—THE ONLY PRODUCE FREE FROM THE SUBSTANCE WAS ORGANIC BROCCOLI.

5. It’s not much of a problem for me—I grow my own stuff and never use roundup or other stuff on anything-including the lawn. My bug spray is made of garlic, onions, and red pepper. YMMV
