There are some other Great Pyrenees allowing people to stop petting them long enough to type to friends on this thread. What a wonderful choice of companion. We used to have Irish Wolfhounds, who never looked anywhere near as good in Santa hats as the Bichons. Hope yours let you sleep in a little.

You’re correct. You know the breed. Nothing happens at night within three houses that doesn’t make her go to guard mode. She always lays facing the door, guarding me. We have hurricane impact windows and doors which are are tight and sound deadoning, but even if someone merely walks by the house quietly she hears, or smells it. She jumps up with the hair on her back standing up, pounds the floor and let’s of her deep guttural barks. Sometime annoying, but always reassuring.
If you’re predisposed to light sleep, or insomnia, not the companion for you.
