I have wondered about those instant-on hot water heaters. Is yours electric or gas?
Both...the unit runs gas to heat the water but electric make the unit work - turn the unit on\displays.
The fittings didn't match..kinda like when the chunnel was ready to be finished..they met in the middle and were off a bit (try finding that story)..so he had to manufacture some bend connectors...installation took a bit of time though I do agree with you, it was kinda pricey...
With the old unit, I had to run the water approx a minute to get hot water - minute doesn't seem like a long time - it is if you just want to wash your hands. Now it's like a few seconds and it gets warm. I could have paid to have a loop back put in to get "instant" hot...glad I didn't. My temp is set @ 120 and is fine for us.
My better angel is pleased - who could ask for anything more?

***minute doesn't seem like a long time - it is if you just want to wash your hands***
A problem here... takes quite a while to get 'hot' to a faucet {I moved the unit outside a few years ago.} With the factory lower temp setting it takes even longer and almost not worth waiting for.
About The fittings didn't match - seems to be a modern phenomenon... little standard hardware so that you need a licensed specialist and have to buy expensive proprietary stuff. The do-it-yourself life-of-Riley yokel -[me]- is becoming obsolete!
