By John Wilkes Booth's own account he was "triggered" on hearing Lincoln call for African American suffrage,
"Booth was in the crowd outside the White House when Lincoln gave an impromptu speech from his window.
Lincoln stated that he was in favor of granting suffrage to the former slaves, and Booth declared that it would be the last speech that Lincoln would ever make.[97][99][100] "
The 15th amendment covered suffrage for former slaves.
