Is there no deadline by which the Senate must receive the package?
Breitbart show tonight floated that Senate could still proceed...not sure on that. Still a losing move by Nancy.
No deadline. Impeachment has whatever rules Congress makes for it. It’s purely political.
Of course, since there are no rules, there is no requirement that the Senate wait for Nancy. They can just try the impeachment, declare the President acquitted, and BOOM! Done.
Maybe they want their packages handled by Democrats? Democrats know a lot about handling other folks’ packages.
I would imagine that they have until the end of the session. Not sure if that is this January or next. There are Congresses, and there are sessions. I know everything pending at the end of a Congress expires and has to be re-done.
Its amusing that Nance is interested in fairness now.
I don't think the founding fathers every imagined that the house would do something so ridiculous as to vote for impeachment but then refuse or delay sending it to the Senate.
This is just going to look like more partisan games on the part of the Democrats. It's likely to inflame their own base that won't understand the delay. It totally destroys the argument that impeaching Trump was urgent.
Id think that, like all legislation, it would expire with the end of this congress and the beginning of the next. They are running a fools errand to think they can wait this out until they think theyll get a senate majority in 2021. The impeachment act will have expired.
McConnell should say “Either we have it in 24 hours or it is automatically DOA.”
Shove it up their asses.
And then shove it up their asses again.
there is no requirement that they "receive" anything at all, per the Constitution. the House voted. Their role ENDS. Now the Senate must try the impeachment. They don't need to have "articles" "transmitted" to them, or have "managers" be present. Just a vote. 2/3rd to remove, or nada.
Did they lie about that?
