In the House: After the DEMs voted down a motion to adjourn, Kevin McCarthy has presented a privileged motion that admonishes Schifty Schiff and Nadler for each denying the minority a day of hearings and violating other house rules. Steny Hoyer - who DEMs have whipping their vote - moves to table. A vote now proceeds. The REPs are doing well throughout this process to hold DEMs to account (never gets very far but at least they’re doing something the DEMs historically do while REPs have, over ages, learned to roll over). There will be a vote on the rules for debate and, then, a 6 hour debate before the vote on impeachment.
There was a lot of discussion early on these “Q” threads about adjourning bodies and recently a reminder here about the constitutional provision that POTUS can order adjournment and the opportunities that thus arise for the executive branch.
