I'll have to admit that I wasn't focused on the comparative claim of primitive man's technology being greater than that of modern man.

I was just interested in the idea that primitive man, at some point, had technology that might not have been primitive at all (by modern standards).

What this discussion brought to my mind were things in ancient myths/literature from mostly the Babylonian/Assyrian/Sumerian/Akkadian areas as to demigods (Apkallu) passing on technology (among other things).

AHHHH! We finally came together! It is fascinating to see what the ancients could do; and, there is no better example than the Egyptians. It is also sobering to think that the Egyptians in Roman times knew less of their olden times than we do now. It took a long time to regain the knowledge they lost.

I will also freely admit to anyone that I would not have the tenacity to use hand tools to accomplish what they did.
