The Han Solo box office bomb pretty much killed Disney’s plans to milk the Star Wars franchise to its fullest by churning out multiple Star Wars related movies year after year (i.e., re-branding every science fiction B movie that they produce as a Star Wars universe movie).
Now I think they are just hoping to make enough off of the next movie to come close to breaking even on what Disney overpaid for the franchise, without completely destroying any remaining value that the franchise still has.
That’s a reasonable assessment of the situation.
After things cool down, Disney will need to somehow disavow the current trilogy as “cannon” before they can reboot the movies. The problem is that it will probably be hard to do until K. Kennedy and the rest of the Woke crew (and their supporters in the media/blogosphere) have been shown the door. She is reportedly now considering retirement. The sooner the better.
Otherwise, the announced “hiatus” in releasing new Star Wars movies may be a long one.
They got a good TV series called The Mandalorian on Disney Plus right now that is Star Wars related.
If they had only put that much effort into the last 2 movies???
