FROM THE HISTORY BOOK

SPIRIT OF AMERICA

Craig Bereedlove's Jet Powered Land Speed Record Car

November 15, 1965 – Breedlove Sets New World Land Speed Record At The Bonneville Salt Flats

At that time he set a new record of 600.601 mph for the measured mile - the first time the 600 mph marker had been exceeded

The current (2019) holder of the World Land Speed Record is ThrustSSC,
a twin turbofan jet-powered car which achieved 763.035 mph in October 1997.

This was the first supersonic record as it broke the sound barrier at Mach 1.016.
